Jesus. The details are damning. This is not white Gen-Z'ers thinking they're post-racial so they can repeat the stuff they hear from black content creators (and of course, they're not and they shouldn't). This is pretty much old-school racism.

Also apparently not the first issue, or the second.

What (or who?) could create a corporate culture where racists would feel empowered to say anything they want without fear of repercussion?

I'll take CEOs for $1,000, Alex.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 11 months ago

So, that gets you about an hour of their time...

Hmmm, maybe someone that built his fortune on Apartheid money?

Could it be....? 🤔

A fish rots from the head. Corporate culture all flows from the CEO and board. If a bigoted piece of shit is in charge, this is what you get. Because the top of the company sets and enforces policy. So if they don't care about bigotry or if they are bigoted themselves, they won't set or enforce policies to stop it. They will hire bigoted management. Those bigots won't stop it and probably encourage it. They hire bigoted workers who will persecute others and face no consequences. Those who anti-bigots can report but will be ignored or face retaliation.

Sounds like a complete BS. Basically what haters want to hear.

Bad working conditions ect. would be believable, but this is just too sensationalist to take at the face value

[–] muse@kbin.social 93 points 11 months ago

It's okay, we see your post history defending far right violence and whataboutism about a non existent leftist strawman.

You can skip the song and dance and just not post on here. We know you'll excuse racism or pretend it doesn't exist unless it happens to you. Bigots tend to do that

I mean, the EEOC is literally suing them. Not sure what part you don't believe. If you don't believe that stuff actually happened there, did you read to the end of the article? It's not the first time they've been accused of this

[–] Fauxreigner@beehaw.org 26 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Nah, these accusations of racism from a company owned by an Apartheid era South African emerald mine heir are too racist.

To anyone thinking of reporting this comment, he's already been banned. I'm leaving the comment up because I think it's a good example of the community rallying to push back on a racist idiot. 😄

Bye fellatio

And yet at this moment it has +16 points.

There was a good month or so there where lemmy wasn't inundated with far right nonsense... that was nice, wasn't it? Sigh....

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 5 points 11 months ago

Anything that can be a front in the culture war will become one.

[–] Gaywallet@beehaw.org 3 points 11 months ago

I'm not sure I agree, I've seen the far right nonsense on here since day one. Sure, it's increased with the overall popularity/activity, but it's always been there. Then again, since I help to admin a large instance, I'm perhaps more exposed to see it.

Lmao, this guys post history. I’d accuse him of being a shill but I think he’s sucking corporate dick for free.

Ok. Life expectancy in america is lower for poor people. We can agree on that. Can you please compare it to the life expectancy in communist countries, like North Korea, USSR or China during Mao regime?

Lots of gems in there like this one, check through for a laugh. I don’t know why, but every right wing dirtbag that talks about “Marxist ideology indoctrinating children” is also an Elon and trump simp. Every single one. Evidence that the right loves strongmen, dictators and big leather daddies to tell them what to do and run society for them.

[–] navi@lemmy.tespia.org 4 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Can't I hate Marxists and Nazis?

[–] interolivary@beehaw.org 27 points 11 months ago

Doubtful you even understand what a Marxist is, honestly

[–] Marketsupreme@lemm.ee 18 points 11 months ago

Yeah these damn government orgs are just haters for suing them on legal grounds! /s

[–] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 8 points 11 months ago

Sounds like something a bigot would say.

🤖 I'm a bot that provides automatic summaries for articles:

Click here to see the summaryThe US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) sued Tesla yesterday, alleging that the electric carmaker violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by subjecting Black employees at its manufacturing facilities in Fremont, California, "to severe or pervasive racial harassment and created and maintained a hostile work environment because of their race."

The agency alleged that throughout the period since 2015, "Black employees also encountered displays of racist graffiti, including swastikas, threats, and nooses.

Black employees have described the prevalence of racist imagery as 'frequent,' 'constant,' 'a regular thing,' and occurring 'too many times to count.'"

Describing retaliation, the US agency alleged that "Tesla has fired Black employees within weeks of them reporting or opposing racial harassment.

After Black employees complained about racism, "Tesla's supervisors and human resources officials retaliated against them through schedule changes, less desirable duties, reassignments, unjustified write-ups, and discharge," the US agency said.

In June 2022, the EEOC issued a Letter of Determination to Tesla stating that it found "reasonable cause to believe" that Tesla had been violating the Civil Rights Act since May 29, 2015, "by subjecting Black employees who worked at its Fremont, California, facilities to a hostile work environment and by retaliating against Black employees who engaged in protected activity," according to the lawsuit.

Is Bubba Wallace working at Tesla now?

[–] Letstakealook@lemm.ee 6 points 11 months ago

Ha, in his defense, it wasn't him that reported the "noose" but a member of his crew.

[–] shogun5000@lemmy.basedcount.com 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Lmao, sorry, this sounds like complete made up bullshit. Sad.

[–] stembolts@programming.dev 12 points 11 months ago

I find your response to be a bit of a jump to the conclusion you want to be true.

Maybe it is made up, is there a lack of evidence? Could you provide more information as to why it appears to be made up?
