Is Jerboa for Lemmy crashing for anyone else?

I've been using Jerboa for Lemmy for my Beehaw account since the Migration. At first it worked fine. Then I started getting an error message about the version of Lemmy being used on the instance. But for the last couple of days it has been crashing immediately on opening:

Jerboa Error Message

Is anyone else having this problem? Can anyone recommend an alternative app?

Thanks!

Switched to liftoff and continue enjoying fediverse.

But I'm not on beehaw.

Liftoff is great! Thanks for commenting about it. I was really frustrated with Jerboa for not even allowing me to log in to Beehaw, and Connect's really bad interface that makes it hard to read anything.

I'm on Beehaw and can confirm that Liftoff is already miles ahead of Jerboa.

Thanks for the recommendation. Have just installed and connected back to Beehaw.

I switched to Liftoff from Jerboa, and am enjoying the Liftoff experience thus far. Works with Beehaw just fine.

Switched to listoff which also didn't work for some reason, then to connect. I also tried thunder, which works as well.

Liftoff is working for me and even let's me seemlessly browse my beehaw and sh.itjust.works acct. If I'm on a beehaw post (like this) is automatically let's me comment under my account here.

Really nice for when you are part of multiple communities.

A major benefit of liftoff to me is that it takes me to linked communities in app, instead of in browser like Jerboa. Makes it easier to subscribe to new communities that people share in comments

Yep, I'm using wefwef.app now, which is also very nice. Still have Jerboa installed for when it'll be compatible with beehaw again.

Jerboa started crashing for me around the time they did an update that required a newer lemmy version. I've been using Liftoff and that's working pretty well so far. I'm trying to stay open to different apps because they're all pretty new and none that I've tried have been exactly what I'm looking for yet.

Yup Jerboa became very unstable so I switched to Connect for Lemmy. Smooth ride now. :)

Glad you're enjoying Connect!

[–] PurpleTentacle@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

I'm enjoying it, too. The only thing that annoys me is how hard/hidden it is to subscribe to communities.

When I'm seeing an interesting community under top of interesting content from a community I might be interested in, it's such a chore to find a subscribe button.

Haven't had any issues with crashing on Jerboa 0.0.34 on Android 13

Yep crashes upon opening it today

[–] 0xCAFE@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Deleting storage and cache (both) worked for me.

[–] leds@feddit.dk 1 points 1 year ago

Yes thanks that worked!

[–] red@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

Worked fine until yesterday evening. This morning (i.e. now) it instantly crashes

[–] Gevian@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yes, Jerboa crashes instantly, feddit.de Front Page is constantly refreshing (web) , Connect won't show any comments, wefwef cannot block communities from showing in my timeline

Great timing, now that many of us are coming from Reddit...

As @dark_stang@beehaw.org mentioned, the progressive web app works really well. To use it, from any major browser on your phone, open up the options menu and click "install app" or "add to phone." It'll add an "app" to your phone which is actually a slimmed down version of your browser with the address bar and menus and whatnot removed.

[–] ryanlovescooljeans@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

This is what I just did since last night's Jerboa update means it can't even launch anymore. And while I like Jerboa, this slimmed down web app version of Lemmy is perfect and kind of all I need.

[–] StringPotatoTheory@beehaw.org 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The most recent jerboa version doesn't work with lemmy version 17 anymore (which beehaw is on). I had the error and crash happen too. You could download a previous version off their github and it should work with v17 instances (but probably not v18).

But I'd recommend liftoff, it was recently added to the play store and it's actively being worked on! It's the app I use and I've been enjoying it so far.

Did they HAVE to go with that post for the Liftoff screenshots? 😂

Edit: They even used it inside the app as a preview on the Post Style prefs! It's very much deliberate! 😂

OMG, just noticed 🤣🤣🤣.
