MODERATORS

Hey everyone! We have been blown away by the response to Liftoff and we really appreciate the support of the community. We're passionate about creating an app that we want to use and we're excited with the progress. There have been a ton of updates and bugfixes this week and we wanted to share the latest state of things

v0.9.18 Release

iOS:

Android:

Changelog

  • Fixed issue where "Everything -> Subscribed" feed showed no posts
  • Added better compact view
  • Added Post Customization page in settings with live preview
  • Added ability to customize font size
  • Added ability to quickly toggle between card and compact view
  • Fixed mark as read not working, added mark all as read
  • Fixed issue with comment share link not being generated properly
  • Added Gesture Navigation (Thanks shocklateboy92!)
  • Added TOTP Login support (Thanks swmarks!)
  • Added animation configuration (Thanks johnc86!)

Known Issues (In progress)

There are a few bugs still that we're working through and we really appreciate all the support from the community helping us Beta test. Here are some of the known issues we're working on:

  • User and community link opening within the app is finicky #107
  • Separate default comment sort from default post sort
  • New sort in community page's posts sometimes not working properly
  • Unclear usage of everything feed causing seemingly duplicated posts across the difference instances.
  • Check here for a full list

Y'all are doing really great work, and so goddamned quickly too. Jerboa won't even let me log in, much less navigate this easily.

[–] Tetsuo666@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I was eager to try out Liftoff but unfortunately I can't seem to log in on it :/

I noticed my password contains a space in the middle and I always get an "invalid password" error.

I didn't try yet to change the password and try again but I suspect the password field when you login might not like a space in it.

In any case, if I can check if the password is really the issue, I will try to create a proper bug report on the git repository or something.

Thanks for the hard work ! It makes me happy to see devs embracing Lemmy and trying to make the best out of a pretty sad situation with reddit.

Oh you might be on to something. There was a similar bug report but we thought it was their password length. It might be spaces. I'll take a lol. Thanks!

[–] wheresyourshoe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I didn't see it on your list, but communities I have blocked are showing up on the frontpage when I have "all" selected.

Do we have any notification of getting replies yet?

Using oled dark if that makes a difference

[–] zachatrocity@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Push notifications are on our to-do list

[–] Sneckster@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I meant a notification in app, like a number next to the bell or it just changing colour.

[–] zachatrocity@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh yes we're tracking an issue for that. It will be implemented

[–] Sneckster@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Lovely, thank you.

Would love to be able to jump to the top of the feed by hitting the home button too if that's being planned.

You're all doing a great job so far. I already feel that little bit of loyalty to liftoff.

[–] Kelvino@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

Will you implement UnifiedPush?

[–] AnonLordo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Your app is awesome, many thanks. I'm missing only the possibility to change the main color, otherwise it has aöready everything I need.

[–] Confuzzeled@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Just installed it and loving it so far, it's great that we're getting options now.

[–] koolkiwi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I can easily see this becoming my new time sink once Boost dies in two days! Loving the app so far, very very impressive for such an early version. One thing I'd love to see (correct me if this is already possible) is having the refresh not only available at the top of the page. Having to scroll up for half a minute just to refresh is a bit tedious :D

Much appreciated :)

Everyday it gets harder to pick a lemmy app to use that isn't Jerboa. Lmfao. This is great! Atm im between this and Thunder.

I do have one issue i see wasn't fixed, but i believe someone has mentioned it. Which is I cannot see content if i go directly to an NSFW sub. It acts like there isnt anything there, but i know I'm able to as I can see it in the everything feed and subscribed feed.

[–] zachatrocity@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

There's a few bugs around NSFW, I hadn't gotten to those yet but I will!

[–] urbanracer34@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Coming from Apollo (RIP and o7,) I love this app so far!

[–] LemmyFeed@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Just installed the app and really like it so far. Keep up the great work!

I'd love to see the ability to hide read posts. I'm coming from baconreader and loved that feature.

Just installed the app via the playstore. I needed to use the website to be able to access it.

BTW, rating can't be correct:

Content rating
PEGI 18 • Extreme violence

I like how you can add multiple accounts and get an overview of all the subscribed channels in 1 view. Posting seems to be an issue yet, at least here with multiple acocunts. (probably pebkac issue, as it's less then an hour on the device)

[–] zachatrocity@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

This I'm sure is due to the fact that people can upload nsfw posts, even though it can be moderated.

Would love support here if any one has experience with the play store in this area

Any plans to add comment collapsing? Sorry, I'm new to the app, play store installed

Edit: jk, figured it out. Press and hold

[–] zachatrocity@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Tap to collapse will be in the next release

Long press comment

[–] fishos@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Can you do something about the size of the reply graphics? I'm talking about the green, orange, etc line that appears next to a comment when it is a reply. They're so narrow and the green one starts at the edge of the screen, making it almost invisible.

Example

[–] sputtersalt@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Love the new update! Are you guys considering adding post/comment text size adjustment as well (rather than just title/header)?

eta: It would also be great to be able to see the bottom navigation when viewing an instance/community page. The little autocorrect bubble is a bit wonky when writing comments as well.

[–] Elcapitan786@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yes please! came here to say the same thing. Default comments are a little too small

[–] space_madness@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

Just installed it. Can't wait to try it out 😁

[–] Jcb2016@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Are you gonna intergrate kbin ?

[–] CapnAssHolo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Great app devs.

Just one request. In compact view, it would be really cool if the post header appears left of the thumbnail. Right now it shows above the thumbnail and a lot of real estate is left open

[–] PixelPassport@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Love the app! One issue I'm having that is keeping me hopping back and forth between apps is download links don't work for me in the integrated browser. Could you possibly add the option to open in external browser?

[–] zachatrocity@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Yes that PR is open and this functionality will be in the next release

[–] _kato@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Amazing app, are there plans to change the accent color from teal to something else? Also any chance we can get material you themes in the future?

[–] ThisIsNecessary@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I keep getting a message like this whenever I try to interact with or subscribe to a community outside of lemmy.world. I'm easily able to do this in other apps like Thunder. What do I need to do differently? "This thread was retrieved via lemmy.ml. You are not logged in there."

Everyone says Liftoff is one of the best apps but I find it unusable as I can't interact with any other federation.

Hiya, thanks for the app, my favourite so far! One QOL I'd like to suggest is a left-handed card view, where the image or content is displayed on the left side of the card instead of the right. So my fellow left-handed friends can navigate a lil' easier. Thanks!

[–] ainen@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Are any iOS users having some serious performance issues with Liftoff? I’ve tried both TestFlight versions and no matter what settings I use, Liftoff feels very sluggish.

Why can't I upvote and comment from other instances? I couldn't comment on the app but I am doing it on wefwef.app website right now, so if should be possible.

[–] mido@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Cool app, just got it for Android. I'm having issues adding an instance though: !lemmy.eco.br

[–] lolreconlol@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Trying to log in with lemme.ee, having issues. It tells me it can't find the instance.
