Context

Reddit is purging NSFW subs as well as trans-related subreddits

And a screenshot of the post on Reddit, from which the meme is quoting:

Brace for Rexxit 2.0. This is not drill! Granted, most of the Redfugees will be going to Lemmynsfw (I helped by dropping a link in, we'll see if that lasts) but as long as we get them out... I suppose you could call it missionary position work.

what's a reddit? is this like myspace?

[–] Emperor 4 points 32 minutes ago

It's like a digg.

[–] Emperor 27 points 4 hours ago (3 children)

It feels like the porn bans may be misdirection - it's the quiet shanking during the prison riot you have to keep an eye out for:

First they came for r/Discuit...

[–] Emperor 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Talking about Discuit. A Reddit alternative.

[–] cantstopthesignal@sh.itjust.works 1 points 14 minutes ago

Is there a way to make it look like old.reddit view.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 hours ago

Wow this recent news just keeps on giving.

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Wait a sec, I thought Discuit had been banned for a while now? I remember discussing it with a Discuit member on /r/RedditAlternatives

[–] Emperor 3 points 3 hours ago

I don't know, never visited.

[–] kabi@lemm.ee 112 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Suddenly banning porn is the most effective way to commit platform suicide. Tried and true.

Ugh they could have named it MASTER-Betas!

Tumblr is still populated and widely used

[–] ryedaft@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 hours ago

They also let porn back on Tumblr

[–] DivineChaos100@hexbear.net 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Still kicking and full of porn

[–] Emperor 5 points 4 hours ago

That's kinda my point, they did some token banning, people got grumpy for a bit then carried right on.

[–] sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al 64 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Hopefully LemmyNSFW and Blahaj can handle the additional traffic. Reddit's loss, our gain.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 31 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I hope users know that Lemmy exists. Reddit suppresses discussion of alternatives and usually bans links. Word-of-mouth is slower but it will get there eventually.

[–] Emperor 16 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Reddit suppresses discussion of alternatives and usually bans links.

It can vary. lemmy.world and join-lemmy links are often removed, to the point I think some subs flag them automatically. Links to other instances see solid. I just checked and I have made a dozen posts on Reddit with links to Lemmy in the last day and they are all still up. I will push my luck too far soon though, I'm sure.

Discuss.online isn't safe anymore

[–] Emperor 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Interesting. feddit.uk isn't causing issues, yet.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe because it is more of a drop in replacement for American users.

[–] Emperor 1 points 1 hour ago

Oh indeed. We aren't exactly a threat.

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 46 points 6 hours ago (2 children)
[–] eerongal@ttrpg.network 62 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Actually, reddit is not coming. That's kinda the whole problem outlined above.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 23 points 6 hours ago

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing ~~the world~~ online platforms ~~he didn't exist~~ they didn't need nsfw content

[–] Emperor 14 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

That pussy is out of the sack and can't be stuffed back in.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

cage

“Missionary position work” is brilliant, btw.

[–] Emperor 4 points 4 hours ago

You're welcome.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

May lead to getting doorslammed.

[–] itsPina@hexbear.net 18 points 6 hours ago (1 children)
[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Was a glitch according to an admin. They are restoring the subs.

[–] Emperor 2 points 1 hour ago

Olympus Hasn't Fallen! This was indeed a drill. However, we learn with every drill.

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 4 hours ago

Yeah.... "A glitch".

Most likely a test run to see how significant the response would be, and an indicator of where things are going.

[–] zephorah@lemm.ee 6 points 6 hours ago (4 children)

Im probably going to regret this but what is r/rule34?

[–] Ithorian@hexbear.net 8 points 5 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Emperor 4 points 4 hours ago

I accidentally created a subgenre of porn in a similar way, although drink and drugs may have also been involved.

[–] squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

If it exists, there is porn of it. If there isn't, there will be.

[–] Maestro@fedia.io 10 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

That second half is rule 35 actually
