Colombia is already going through a really rough time without Trump deciding to fuck it over even more. There's been mass displacements and killings in areas of the country where the ELN is fighting organized crime to control the coca leaf production, making thousands of people leave out of fear for their lives, most cities might have to go into water and electricity rationing because the reservoirs haven't replenished since the emergency last year.
Petro is currently in talks with Lula da Silva and Claudia Sheinbaum, we'll see what CELAC will decide about Trump, theres the possibility Trump is just doing this shit to show that he is "tough". There are talks about Colombia joining BRICS in case the US sanctions them.
Seriously I hope this pushes Latin American countries closer to each other and they can be more self-reliant. I feel they have the right leadership in place (besides Argentina lol)
Leadership yes, but the conditions are bad for Lula da Silva and Gustavo Petro, they lack a majority in congress. And the Congress and Supreme Court works against their goverments (Except in Brazil, where Lula has some sort of agreement with the Supreme Court because Bolsonaro had plans to kill half of the Supreme Court Justices, and the Justices hate the Congress). I do think if Petro and Lula play their cards well, they might be able to actually pust for more Latin American integration/Latinoamericanism.
I hope so. If there ever was a time for it, what better time than now
