For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Not a Nazi salute.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 9 points 3 hours ago

Any company advertising on X, buying Teslas, using SpaceX, etc is okay with working with Nazis.

That needs to be the message here. Make it clear to all his business associates that we will not forget how they react.

anyone still using x is either a nazi or okay with nazis. the time for excuses is over.

Imagine how minimally functional your brain has to be to think this is anything other than a blatant sieg heil.

Now wrap your mind around the majority of voting Americans voting for this future.

The only advice I can give anyone at this point is to not hold too much hope for the future of this nation. Lower your expectations. It'll help you get through what's coming.

Context matters.

Lack of hope seems to be what depressed the vote turnout in the first place. What a vicious cycle.

So.....when do we send The Bastards?

I speculated a short while back that with Musk’s true dream of immortality seeming less plausible every year, he has turned his sights on being remembered by history.

I think I was right, and some sort of drug fueled edgelord logic has led him to conclude that fear is strong and universal, and being a cacking villain gets your name to “stick” with people the most.

Or his ridiculous luck has given him the world’s worst case of Main Character syndrome, and the game play that amuses his fried brain involves griefing the NPCs.

This is the answer.

hitler is widely regarded as the most influential person of the 20th century

He was Time's person of the year too. Funny that you got a downvote for speaking this but it's so important to remember.

All of this is correct, but people get really pissed at these facts because we live in a demented cartoon world where the majority of people run on reactions and feelings, so if they read anything other than emotional condemnations they lose their shit. Which is exactly why we have another set of Hitlers gaining power without resistance. Because you idiots out there can't get it through your thick skulls that people like Hitler and the Nazis were PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME. Not monsters, not inhuman creatures, but idiots who thought they were doing the right thing because they let reactions and feelings guide them.

I'd say most people understood the historical context but rightly concluded that feeding Trump's ego isn't the smartest play. And sticking to traditions and conventions in the face of the fascist threat is clearly not working.

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

damn, you got deep on that but generally, yeah that’s the root of the problem and it runs on both sides….
influential often has a positive connotation so i think that confused people

Is he flexing his "shoot someone on 5th Ave" moment?

[–] st33lb0ne@lemmy.world 43 points 12 hours ago

A guy who grew up under apartheid in SA is racist and a fascist,, who knew??

[–] GoofSchmoofer@lemmy.world 50 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I kinda get the feeling that part of this was a loyalty test for main stream media to see how they were going to report on something that was obviously a nazi salute.

Was it going to be "Musk is swatting at fly, the liberal media goes off the rails with crazy nazi conspiracies." Or "Musk is a fucking nazi, he needs to be deported"

Which is going to get the "love" of this administration?

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Currently seems to be explaining it away as not a nazi salute, pretty sure the only worse outcome would be yeah it was we don't care. Which is what the actual nazis are going with but not the more mainstream view, yet.

If its going to go that way I hope we can get to the point of the nazis being shot in the head faster than last time.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago

That didn't happen.

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.

And if it was, that's not a big deal.

And if it is, that's not my fault.

And if it was, I didn't mean it.

And if I did... You deserved it.

[–] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 64 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Man, I still remember everyone telling me I was over reacting when the Republicans cOiNcIdEnTaLlY had an Odal rune for a stage and that they weren't really Nazis.

[–] sol6_vi@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago
