My native American ancestors are laughing at the irony of Euros, complaining that their clusterfuck of an imperialist playground has evolved to over-write all their quirky cultural intricacies with a hyper-commericalized Hallmark holiday. Fuck your traditions.

Meanwhile in America we have to cherish it because the two months between Halloween and New Years is the only thing resembling culture and a shared identity that we have left and the rest of the year is depressing and lonely (the bar is very low)

Well, there's Super Bowl Sunday and Valentine's Day in the same week, but that's scrapping the barrel. They probably wouldn't be too bad if they weren't monetized to hell and back.

Haha I thought the same thing we've got some heavily commercialized sporting events to get us through winter and that's it

It's about the same in Brazil

Even in Ireland where it originated it wasn't like it is now until the 90's.

Fastnacht - Every town and village dresses up as a monster and then storms other towns. Kids get their faces covered in shit.

LanternNacht - An army of children walk the streets at night, holding lanterns they crafted themselves, singing creepy songs of a King who stalked someone across snow.

Halloween - Kids knock on doors asking for candy.

Which do you think is more scary?
