First: What you are describing is not a "failed state". It is a fascist state. Failed states are about a lack of government and so forth.
That aside: I've definitely noticed a strong social media push to make Turkiye look better than it is. It is fun to read the travel horror stories on reddit and the like and there is always a swarm who will insist that OP is a liar and an idiot if they had a bad experience because of being exploited by local shop owners or just being a woman. Bad time in France? Yeah, that's France. Bad time in Turkiye? You made a mistake and I actually love it there because of X Y and Z.
At first I figured it was just the sex tourism crowd trying to pretend they aren't just going to exploit financial crises. But then started to notice it even in politics/news threads.
