It's so funny to read this article talking about the bones "may have been used for ceremonial purposes" and "this is the first time [a disk with a frog] has been discovered" and the archeologists are trying to figure it out, and they're all just Pokemon.

There's an archaeology in joke for that kind of thing.

Generally it's digging up a ~~sex toy~~ fertility idol.

I thought that it was interesting that there didn't appear to be any reference to local customs or games. I have no insight into how long such customs last across generations, but I'd be surprised if the game with bones was a "recent" development.

Archeologists can be notoriously clueless. Like how many same sex "friends" they've discovered in the same graves etc
