Went on an overnight trip to the Buffalo River in Arkansas. The weather was nice enough to just sleep outside

I know Americans catch a lot of flag online but man, I'm jealous of your guys' nature. Best we have are some shitty little patches of forest where you have to stealth camp since it's probably owned by some asshole farmer

Not to mention the huge variety of biomes, even excluding Alaska. Having a huge country that’s sparsely and irregularly inhabited helps too.

Which country is this? The Netherlands?

As much as living in Arkansas sucks...they don't call it "The Natural State" for no reason.

Hammocks are just better IMO. Tarp + Hammock is my go to shelter in every season.

Here in Australia, Swags are the go-to camping solution for solo camping, and also couple touring.

A Swag is a local type of Bivouac sack that could just be anything from a blanket wrapped in a tarp, upto a custom canvas tent-like structure that can be quickly rolled out, with integrated mattress and separate stretcher.

A few of the lighter-weight ones have an opening on the topside where you can leave them open for stargazing on dry nights.

There are also hammock swags with insulation above and below.

Love my hammock. Trying to get the wife to like it, but her first experience was suboptimal. Gonna try again next summer.

Hammock campers are so.. they are like arch users or brompton cyclists 😆

Tent gang in the house!

I’m also in team tent, mainly because bugs.

My hammock has a built in bug net 🤷‍♂️

Here is my setup last weekend: Hammock by the river with dog in background

Here's another angle, with the rain fly extended: Closeup of hammock with rain fly. Orange chair on ground with items on it, backpack hanging from low tree branch

I was quite comfortable to be honest. But tents are fine, I still own a tent, and depending on where I'm camping or how much I'm glamping, I'll bring the tent, and maybe even toss in an air mattress. I'm flexible 😁

Nah, you sold me at “built-in bug net” hahaha hammock is so much more comfy than sleeping on an air mattress or bedroll.

That's fair lol

Looks relaxing! You have string lights for your campground? Good idea lol

I was about to ask about it. Guys and gals, I still have a few of my ultralight fairy lights to give away. Still like 3-4 up for grabs.
