no way he thinks that every alligator is 150,000,000 yrs old ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

[โ€“] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 82 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Once again reminded of the biohacker tech guy who took ketamine and drowned in a sensory deprivation tank

[โ€“] Posadas@hexbear.net 52 points 2 days ago

Talk about depriving yourself of sensations.

[โ€“] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Which is sad cause I was really intresting in his experiment he hadn't published the results of yet.

[โ€“] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Oh, it delivered some pretty clear results.

[โ€“] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago

The myostatin one? I hadn't heard the results there

[โ€“] blobjim@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago

did he not have a spotter?

[โ€“] cosecantphi@hexbear.net 61 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

At this point, the guy is in what amounts to a very weird and public self harm routine that he gets paid for. None of his treatments will produce any data of scientific value when he runs them all at once without doing any sort of controls. And if one of his treatments manages to miraculously increase his lifespan, he'll never even know because it'll almost certainly be cancelled out by all the other pseudo scientific shit he's doing to himself.

[โ€“] coolusername@lemmy.ml 1 points 22 hours ago

He's mostly looking at research and taking whatever works along with experimenting with new stuff

[โ€“] miz@hexbear.net 70 points 2 days ago (2 children)

is that the weird super-rich hollow man who does blood transfusions with his son

yes, yes it is

[โ€“] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 46 points 2 days ago

Also Long Covid fucked his lungs up.

[โ€“] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago

super-rich hollow man

redundant

[โ€“] borschtisgarbo@lemmygrad.ml 63 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Isn't it counterproductive to waste so much time to extend your life? Like it seems like it's all this guy does. Wouldn't having a standard lifestyle leave you with more time to experience life?

[โ€“] Posadas@hexbear.net 93 points 2 days ago (2 children)

All of this to be out lived by a Chinese grandmother that smokes a pack a day.

[โ€“] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

This is the answer, science can give us all the grandma juice

[โ€“] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 43 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is like a story of a guy who spent his entire life trying to find the fountain of youth. Never found it even though started looking for it from a young age. Could have also like, lived his life.

[โ€“] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago

Idk, that sounds more interesting than Bryan. Lots of hiking and hanging out at old libraries. Talking to archaeologists.

[โ€“] Weedian@hexbear.net 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No way, jimmy Carter looks like he's having a blast

[โ€“] SadArtemis@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago

Jimmy's motivations are different probably, the man almost certainly knows he's going to hell if it exists (in the way his beliefs would see it as existing). He's clinging on for dear life lol

[โ€“] QuillcrestFalconer@hexbear.net 44 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bring back "day 56 of willing myself into a lizard" posting

[โ€“] blobjim@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago

bring back gexposting

[โ€“] culpritus@hexbear.net 43 points 2 days ago

Serial cold-plungers being the patient-zero of the zombie pandemic is definitely within the possibilities of this wacky world.

[โ€“] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 38 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

This guy is gonna do all this work, making his life bereft of meaning or experiences in exchange for longevity, so that he can maybe make it to 110 or something and die

And that's assuming he actually does LENGTHEN his life with all this nonsense, and that he doesn't end up making himself super vulnerable to something and die much earlier

[โ€“] fox@hexbear.net 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The only thing that has any backing that extends life is staying moderately fit and active. Having a reason to get up in the morning and move your body is basically the entirety of the secret.

Of course in a grand irony for this dude, giving blood is basically the best and only way to lower your body's microplastic and heavy metal accumulation, which might possibly have an effect on your health in old age. Taking blood doesn't do shit.

I think he's going to die in a car crash or something

[โ€“] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 35 points 2 days ago

100,000's of years of evolution to maximize the efficiency of the enzymes etc. in the human body:

[โ€“] Azarova@hexbear.net 36 points 2 days ago

I'm not a doctor but that seems like a bad thing

[โ€“] x87_floatingpoint@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[โ€“] Gorb@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's obsessed with living forever and does stuff like taking blood plasma from his son and other really weird shit. He's not ok in the brain

[โ€“] x87_floatingpoint@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And he thinks the permanent hypothermia will improve his life expectance? I'm absolutely not a medical professional, but that doesn't sound right...

[โ€“] Gorb@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

His stuff is based in pseudoscience so its just made up shit for vibes. If I'm gonna operate in his headspace it would be something like cold means lower metabolism which means like some kind of pseudo cryostasis which means live longer

I had kids because I wanted somebody to take out the garbage when I'm too tired after work.

You had kids because you wanted a Blood Boy.

we-are-not-the-same

[โ€“] Weedian@hexbear.net 26 points 2 days ago

That's just hypothermia

[โ€“] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 20 points 2 days ago

Litterally cold blooded lizard people.

[โ€“] Josephine_Spiro@hexbear.net 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Think its that rich guy who spends all his time trying to min max his health to live longer. He also gets blood transfusions from his son

Vampirism irl.

[โ€“] Posadas@hexbear.net 24 points 2 days ago

The Blood Boy harvester

[โ€“] AmericaDelendaEst@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

People keep talking about alligators like Greenland sharks don't live for centuries

[โ€“] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 days ago

They also barely move which is my plan as welll

[โ€“] Poogona@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

There's something truly pitiable about people like this who are seeking this level of control over something as inevitable as mortality.

[โ€“] MaxOS@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

I see his health rapidly declining in the next five years

[โ€“] Discopanda@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago

This guy looks like if he would eat a burger he would perish.

[โ€“] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago

From what I am seing he said he is starving himself to achieve this effect. It is impressive to see someone with a body temp this low and not be in an ICU. I think though he is doing way more than that and that by doing so much he is doing terrible science. If he does actually see results it will be impossible to know what factor or combination of factors caused it.

[โ€“] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago

This is the embodiment of neoliberalism.

[โ€“] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago

Honestly this will just make him live less, this kind of extreme temperatures . makes your body stressed.
