A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

Only if they're battery-powered. Carrying enough fuel to feed the saw as well as the rocket would be too much

[–] Fridgeratr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

40 horsepower??? Holy shit are you trying to cut titanium?

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 2 points 1 hour ago

It's an anti-tank weapon.

[–] Agility0971@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Only if they can reach mach 5

[–] FreshLight@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

That's my reminder to check for a new Chainsaw Man chapter

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

This meme is so old it can legally drive at this point

[–] nuke@sh.itjust.works 8 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

I bet you're so old you can drive too

Every 40k author is tearing up their manuscript right now and starting afresh,

...the screaming chainsaw missile tore through the mid-morning air, the astartes all laughed as it sliced though half a squad of guardsmen as they ate breakfast...

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Serious Sam 4 has a secret RPC weapon you can find if you preordered the game or enable it with cheats. It's as broken as it is fun.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

If they were they'd be a war crime.

[–] Moops@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

It's never a war crime the first time!

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

I think the propelling force of the rocket would far overpower the cutting power of the chainsaw, making a sharp, pointy object instead more useful.

And at least make the rockets hovering, like in the shortfilm Ruin.

Orks are definitely the only species this would ever work for.

Although I'm surprised they don't just make a gun that fires smaller guns that also fire bullets which themselves fire bullets... that explode.

[–] sploosh@lemmy.world 8 points 17 hours ago

You should check out Enter the Gungeon.

Everyone should check out Enter the Gungeon.

Choppa shoota’ or shoota’ choppy?

Mork said iz good, make it work!

[–] microphone900@lemmy.ml 2 points 13 hours ago

Rocket chainsaw were great fun to use in Serious Sam 4.

[–] laurelraven@lemmy.zip 7 points 18 hours ago

New Helldiver support weapon?

[–] drspod@lemmy.ml 32 points 1 day ago (6 children)

You would need an equal and opposite angular momentum at the back of the chainsaw otherwise it will just rotate upwards and loop around in circles.

[–] gimsy@feddit.it 6 points 15 hours ago

You can balance it adjusting the rocket nozzle

[–] sawdustprophet@midwest.social 7 points 18 hours ago

an equal and opposite angular momentum

Idea: contra rotating chainsaws.

[–] Kaboom@reddthat.com 42 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So a second chainsaw in the opposite direction?

[–] ajmaxwell@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Give this man a promotion!

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 8 points 21 hours ago

Nah, second chain pointing forward rotating the opposite direction, with the teeth facing forward.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

If the chainsaw generates so much inertial that it challenges your trajectory, you're doing something right.

[–] Draegur@lemm.ee 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

just enough rotational velocity to counter gravity trying to pull the nose of the missile down though. and also the centripetal momentum of the chain would act like a gyro stabilizer insuring that it remains nominally upright.

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

You'll need more mass in those teeth.

Depleted uranium chain saw teeth.

I was hoping this linked to an XKCD article that discusses the question. Answering the question optional.

You'll shoot your arm off.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 4 points 18 hours ago

I have no notes

I'm confused about the spyware free part. I'm not clocking on either link. But cAn you explain that one?

[–] Agility0971@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The link have question mark in the middle and a unique identifier behind it. When a web browser requests the website from youtube, it will look at that identifier and know that link was generated by a specific user. If you request the video while logged in then google knows that those two accounts are somehow communicating. If over time two youtube accounts are communicating bidirectionally then they are probably friends. If communication is going only one way then it might be an influencer account.

Removing that identifier will remove information about who sent you the link.

[–] SynopsisTantilize@lemm.ee 1 points 1 hour ago

Oh good shit! Are there any extensions that can deshitify that process?

[–] fin@sh.itjust.works 8 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

That’s actually a good idea for a new fallout weapon

[–] Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 hours ago

The bang saw

[–] windpunch@feddit.org 1 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

So, similar to Manhacks from Half-Life 2?

[–] bizarroland@fedia.io 11 points 1 day ago
[–] pirtedad@lemm.ee 11 points 1 day ago

What if you put chainsaws on a Hellfire missile to replace the blades.

[–] Tabula_stercore@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago
[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

It's like the opposite of a swordfish

[–] smokebuddy@lemmy.today 4 points 22 hours ago

Perhaps, especially if combined with giant magnet neck collars like in the beginning of Wild Wild West
