I just finished watching the finale.

This and the previous episode felt rushed and weird.

To me, the series is a 3/5 at best, and I would not be recommending it for casual viewing, unless you are a fan of Batman (like me), or specifically a fan of this particular interpretation of Batman (also, like me).

Spoiler-free rantWhat's with all the protagonists of the series treating the city and people as they please (mainly the multiple explosions and murders) without any repurcussions.

I get that Batman is not present or has gone into hiding or whatever, but the police? What about other criminal groups?

Seems like everyone gets a free pass as long as the story warrants it.

Spoilery rantEverything that transpired over the eight episodes, and the bat-signal comes up in the last 5 seconds of the series. What a joke!

Also, I never was a fan of name drops, and nothing changed with the mention of Selina Kyle. It gives a feeling that the makers haven't really thought about the specifics of where these characters go from here.

I think the key thing to remember is that Gotham is corrupt. Horribly, horribly corrupt. Look at the state of where Vic lives. No one is helping them. The police aren't paying attention. Most of what Oz is doing is underground, literally.

A huge road collapse is probably Batman worthy, but that all happens and is resolved in a day. Plus the Councilman is given a story with a clear bad guy (Sofia) and that's solved quickly. The police don't need Batman to solve it because it's a straightforward case.

Even the Bat signal at the end isn't a direct threat. Oz has just been told the city is his and nothing stands in his way. The Bat signal is a reminder. The Penguin can control the already corrupt police and government. He's good at it. Batman? Not so much.

That is a good rationale for how things played out as they did. However, it does not change my opinion on this series by much. I still look forward to the next movie instalment.

BTW, I was not expecting a response when I made the comment. This community seemed deserted. Thanks for engaging here. I see you have made a few other posts and comments in this community.

Yeah the community is new (which is to say recently restarted, starting with The Penguin).

As we move towards Creature Commandos, Superman and the new DCU I'm hoping things grow.

Vic.

After what Oz did to his brothers I get it but, ouch.

Overall an excellent finale. He broke Sofia. He broke the gangs. Oz gets to be part of high society, or at least begin to. We have a new mayor at the moment but I fully expect the third Batman film will be Mayor Penguin.

Also like the reveal of Eve as his mother. It's tragic.
