Summary

A 24-year-old man, Daniel Schmidt, was arrested after allegedly disrupting a voting line and assaulting an election judge in Orland Park, Illinois.

Schmidt reportedly attempted to skip the line, ignored repeated instructions to wait, and punched an election judge who tried to stop him, knocking off their glasses.

Other patrons restrained him until police arrived, at which point Schmidt resisted arrest. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery against a person over 60 and resisting arrest.

It's crazy, it's always the party you'd most expect.

The one prone to violence and has control issues, then wonders why no one likes them except dumb, or sociopathic people, so they make up false equivalencies and conspiracies to justify their own sad existence? Hopefully the voters wake up and do a purge. Especially in the midterms.

That's one way to stop a trump vote, ask them to follow the rules and be curtious to others till they punch you in the face and get ejected from the voting location.

We need more people that can take a punchat voting locations. We only have so many old people.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 30 points 3 weeks ago

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 29 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Sounds like he won't have to worry about voting for a long time, since I'm guessing theres at least one felony somewhere in those charges.

What a piece of schmidt.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 24 points 3 weeks ago

24-year-old Daniel Schmidt

tch. Danny, Danny, Danny. You done fucked up Danny boy.

Schmidt, huh? Good German name innit. Is that a tattoo on your neck there ol Danster? Hey - I hear in prison you can meet new people!

Y'see Danny - what we have here is something we call an egregious crime. Can you say egregious? . . . very close! Anyway, you've got a room full of people who saw you act like a total MAGAt and punch a poll worker. They don't like that Danny. They're gonna testify, Danny. You're fucked on this one Danny.

But hey. Your demented rapist sociopath god will surely pardon you right? Good thing you didn't make the national news with a big ol' picture of your stupid ass face for - y'know - future gangs or whatever it is you may have wanted to do with your life or whatever.

On the other hand - it's a hell of an origin story for someone who never shows up in social media or the news again and spends their life helping others because they fucked up so bad. There's some audacious hope!

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 24 points 3 weeks ago (7 children)

Well on the plus side, if he gets convicted (likely) he'll be a felon who won't be able to vote again ever.

[–] st3ph3n@midwest.social 30 points 3 weeks ago

Illinois allows felons to vote once they’re not actively serving a sentence in prison.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 weeks ago

If his party wins, no one will vote again ever. Or if they do it will be in a sham election.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

I'm usually not one for disenfranchising felons, but when the offense is attacking the elections process itself I can make an exception!

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

He may just be counting on a lifetime Trump dictatorship (complete with a pardon for his assault, since he did it for the "greater good")

[–] octopus_ink@lemmy.ml 10 points 3 weeks ago

That's OK, he can still run for president!

The funny thing is agg. battery is a felony in Illinois which means he would lose his right to vote.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago

Another trump turd who will not vote.

[–] M600@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

Now they will claim the election is rigged because someone was prevented from entering the voting area.
