The platform numbers on the display boards don't use decimal, or are somehow encoded with the wrong number until 30 seconds before the train heads off.

And given the doors close up to 45 seconds before departure, -15 seconds just isn't enough time to storm up the escalator, run sideways and fall down the next escalator to the correct (and-now-empty) platform.

I use realtimetrains.co.uk to get a handle on what the platform is going to be

Well, as realtimetrains was mentioned (It's brill), we might as well make a list!...

I use https://traintimes.org.uk for speed and ease of use. Pre-pandemic I had a whole list ot traintime.org.uk bookmarks for different commuting routes.

Also, when stuck waiting for trains, https://traksy.uk/live/M+63+RDNGSTN is brilliant for watching your delayed train stuck at a red light.

Have I missed any others?

As a local I’ve never had the need to change at the station but with 14 (I think?) platforms you’d think they’d give a reasonable amount of time to change!

You're forgetting an additional -15 seconds while a station staff member tells you off for running.

Another thing that'd help which some trains/buses have is a display of departures with platforms and times for the next station.
