We in c/Neoliberal support:

Neoliberals can be found in many political parties and we are not dogmatic supporters of specific parties. But we tend to find ourselves agreeing more often with parties that espouse liberal values, internationalism and centrist economics, such as the Democrats in the US, Liberal Democrats in the UK, FDP in Germany, Renaissance/MoDem in France, the Liberal Party in Canada, and so on.

Whether he wins or loses, I still cannot fathom how a candidate like this can poll 45%+ in a country purporting to be a modern democracy.

If you talk to people, there’s a subset of people who throw their hands up and say they can’t vote Democrat so it has to be trump. Most of the time when I ask what’s so bad, you know where they land? Trans. It’s a bigger rallying point than you probably think it is. .

More though, they parrot whatever the pundits tell them is reality because that’s the quick fix. And, if your friends won’t like you any more, you tend to stick with the social narrative that keeps your friends close. Which further reinforces the low effort, I did my research by listening to this pundit, and now I’ll say what all my friends are saying because it’s true. Ben Shapiro said so.
.

Remember, republicans are usually very United. Whereas liberals usually are not. Actually doing real research, or not, has something to do with it. And the Rs will blind follow to create a win while Ds will absolutely spin off on single issues and create losses. There are pros and cons re outcome to each approach.

It makes plenty of sense when you realize I have been voting in elections for over 20 years and have never been polled. There are people who answer polls and people who don't. Poll workers go after people who are likely to answer. That's why polls are so skewed.

He got 46.8% of the vote in the last election. I don't think those polls are too incredibly far off do you?

Part of that had to do with low voter turnout. In 2016, the eligible voting population of the US was 230.93K. The total number of votes cast was only 136.75K. Of the votes cast only 62.98K were cast for Trump.

This is literally why every other post on social media is urging people to vote.

Edit: I'm gonna say one other thing. There's only 47% of registered voters who even bother with a party affiliation. The numbers for registered voters with party affiliation break down to be pretty close. But only 30 of the 50 states and territories allow voters to select a party affiliation.

" As of March 2024, 45 million registered voters in these areas identified themselves as Democrats. At 38.28%, Democrats represented the single largest share of registered voters in the states and territories that allow voters to indicate partisan affiliation on their registration forms.

A total of 35.7 million registered voters identified themselves as Republicans, representing 30.35% of registered voters in these areas. "

The last election was in 2020. Where Trump had over 74 million votes. The polling for that election predicted Trump would get 48% of the vote, which if you'll notice is within the margin of error of the 47% he actually got. I say again if you think 45% of the voting population pulling for Donald Trump in this next election is unrealistic I think you might be living in a Dreamworld. It's going to be close. These poles are not far off base. I'm not sure why you think there's so much less support for Trump than there really is.

I think you're reading things into what I said that you probably shouldn't be, and that's skewing how you read what I wrote. I am fully aware of how close polls are to how many votes he's likely to get. But overall what I'm pointing out is that he does not have half of the eligible voting population at his back. There's a significant number of registered voters who do not vote and therein lies the reason the polls are currently showing him as competitive with Harris. If more people vote that gap widens. I went with the numbers for the last time he won to illustrate the point of what happens when people don't vote in the election.

You'll note that I said specifically that this is why people are urging everyone who can vote to vote.

This is worded the way it is to illustrate to outsiders that it's not half the country supporting Trump because that's been a really big assumption I have seen repeatedly.

It’s quite simple, they believe they’re the good guys and they’re unfathomably stupid. They’re the kind of people who aren’t smart enough to fix anything so their solutions always start with clunky eradication of whatever’s bothering them and that’s easier when they pretend that what they’re getting rid of is bad for whatever reason.

I'm forced to agree. The United States deserves to fade away into the sunset. Even if the discourse is 100 percent caused by Russia 45% of us are buying it because we are fucking inbred retards.

About half of the electorate is mentally defective.

Look at the media they are addicted to. Fox News is peak, lowest common denominator, outrage heroin for these people. It riles them up, gives them a Boogeyman to hate and set their ways as the right ways. Dabble in some good ole Christian references and you've got yourself an already gullible, willing crowd. Then you also get the regular always unhappy people on your side. That asshole that just wants a dingleberry of authority to use to ruin your day.

There are so many willing asshats in this country for this not to happen

.. and that's just one form of delivery.

We're fucking done man.

It’s depressing and dumbfounding. And it all goes back to the propaganda.

Growing up, I always wondered how 1930’s Germany could look at Hitler & the Nazi’s and think “Yeah, this looks like a good guy.” I also used to think it could never happen in the United States.

Fast forward to today, it really feels like Trump has (1) one, given me a front row seat understanding how how it happened and (2) proven to me that, yes, it really can happen in the US.

It’s really easy to write all of his supporters off as being blatantly evil (many are - the Nazi Flag waving at the Florida boat rally is an example) but just as many are simply blind to Trump’s evil. They’ve succumbed to decades of powerful propaganda and think that anyone - even Donald Trump - is better than a Democrat.

It’s stupid, exhausting, and defies logic, but it’s what they believe.
