/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

In all fairness, Scotch can open up different notes and flavors with a bit of water/ice. If anyone wants Zima, we ask them politely, but firmly, to leave.

[–] podperson@lemm.ee 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Some (not all) Scotches can open up a bit with a little water, but would disagree about ice. You’re basically turning everything down with ice.

BUT

I think everyone should be allowed to order their whisky the way they like it and enjoy in peace. Ice, water, beer chaser, soda, whatever. I don’t care for those things but get as crazy as you want with no regrets.

Well, he was Canadian, but nobody's perfect.

Zima is just malt liquor sprite.

I'm gladly stand alone and say it's "good" occasionally, the same way a 40 of Mickey is "good" occasionally. If you're in the headspace, it will get you where you want to go.

Wait, is Zima still available? I haven't noticed it in stores in many years. But I also haven't been looking for it, since I've found that I'm not a fan of malt beverages.

Apparently not in the US, but it is in Japan.

I think the closest thing to zima in the US now is Smirnoff Ice. I have to say it's been a long while since I've had either.

For me, Johnnie Walker is like that donkey that gets Homer Simpson into trouble. Don't get me wrong; we have a great time together, but there are...consequences.

Ahahahaha, it's the old snob in me coming through, even though I don't drink anymore. Yeah, I was quite...opinionated about things like stout mouthfeel (it has to be chewy or what's the point) and IPAs being absolute ass.

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

A good stout should be like drinking a loaf of bread

[–] kellyaster@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Agreed 100%! A good stout must be eaten!

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Ah, I'm more of the bitter (higher %) end. I've taken a liking to hazys lately. Big citrus fan.

[–] metaStatic@kbin.earth 4 points 2 months ago

I quite drinking around the time fruit juice bombs where literally exploding on shelves and everyone was trying to convince themselves sours weren't actual ass.

I do miss talking about it all but I really don't miss waking up on Monday wondering where my weekend went.

[–] kellyaster@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

My gripe was that IPAs had no subtlety in flavor, it was all hops. To each their own, there's so many different types of booze these days. There's just so much different stuff out there now. Citrus sounds neat, would probably be real nice in the summer.

[–] HessiaNerd@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Hazys? Are you also a fan of diarrhea? That trend needs to die. How can anyone consume that much yeast and not have the shits?

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

To each their own.

[–] TheGrandNagus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

How bad is your digestive system

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

And for those of you that think you're cool because you ordered a "hard seltzer"... you ordered an overpriced Zima.

[–] cornshark@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Lol what, scotch doesn't even have fingers. It's not a chicken.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 3 points 2 months ago

Nor a fish!

Zima is apparently super popular in Japan these days with younger adults.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I do wonder what the Zima drinker's sob story is though. Like, whisky is for numbing the pain, tequila is for numbing the brain, what's the Zima trying to fix?

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Setting up a crossover with Babylon 5.

[–] Red_October@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

A vague sense of universal wrongness?
