The Magical Fruit

The Oromo people would customarily plant a coffee tree on the graves of powerful sorcerers. They believed that the first coffee bush sprang up from the tears that the god of heaven shed over the corpse of a dead sorcerer.

The price increase combined with removing filters and all the addons really isn't great. This just feel like another product that will be ruined by greed.

Enshittification of a physical product

At first I thought that the aeropress clear is more expensive because of "aesthetic tax" only.

Price difference might be more tolerable if everything from the original aeropress are still included.

You bet. At least a hardware product is a bit harder to ruin than a software service. 🥲

If it weren't for James Hoffmann I'd have slightly more money in my bank account, but notably worse coffee every morning

I'm a big fan of Hames Joffmann

found this pretty interesting as i recently dropped my old old aeropress and some of the side (fins?) came off. i use the fellow prismo, and it seems to hold well enough, but i can no longer use it with standard cap and filters. was thinking about getting a new one, but i think i'll spring for a chemex instead and try that.

I can't wait for the Hames Joffmann rendition!
