Interesting that they decided to make him Orzhov. He's probably as mono-black as they come. What is white about him?

Vampires have typically been white/black
The mechanics are WB. The character himself may be mono black but it's harder to justify the card being so with a straight lifegain effect.
Eh a lot of vampires are Orzhov, but I get where you're coming from.
His pasty white skin? Idk
Yeah, I've always seen the lifelink/ life gaining as the white aspect.
Yeah if it was gain life equal to how much life someone else lost it could be justified as black, but doubling lifegain is pretty solidly white.
I haven't been around for well over a decade. Is this not extremely OP?
Oh man, a decade? Yea, the power creep in the past 4-ish years has been more like a power flood, this card is playable, but far from OP
Some more egregious examples from recent memory: Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer The evoke elementals Sheoldred, the Apocalypse The One Ring
GEEEEEZ.
I used to be a prodigy who never lost a FNM but had to sell off my collection so I could afford to eat. Shortly after they increased card power per mana by like 1.5 and introduced Planeswalker cards. This makes everything favor rapid rollout strategies and lowers statistical stability a lot! I decided the game was ruined a at that point and didn't go back.
Yea, every format has sped up a ton, and unsurprisingly, bans have had to come faster too.
Nadu, Winged Wisdom was released in the summer and is already banned in the two formats it was nominally designed for (Modern and Commander).
Omg dawg, that card needs to be in with my old slivers!
I quit in 2003. Everything you posted is incomprehensibly OP.
I quit in the early-mid-2010s and that looks insanely OP.
Imho the speed waxes and wanes along the editions.
Remember how fast as fuckAlara was and how they slowed everything down with Innistrad?
