One of the most trailblazing and exciting decades in horror history was the 1990s. It was a phenomenal time to be a fan, an era that saw the likes of Scream, The Silence of the Lambs, Tremors, and Sleepy Hollow. Stories were getting bolder and more imaginative, and it saw the rise of newer, more creative filmmakers who were pushing the genre to new heights. While it was a fun time, unfortunately, the decade still had its fair share of flops.

The following ten entries are horror films from the '90s that stand out as the worst of the worst.Despite being one of the best decades for the genre, it proved to be a mixed bag in terms of quality, with notable stinkers that are remembered today for being spectacularly bad. Some could qualify as so bad they're good, while others are just straight-up disappointments. Here are the ten worst horror movies the 1990s had to offer.

  1. 'Psycho' (1998)
  2. 'I Still Know What You Did Last Summer' (1998)
  3. 'Carnival of Souls' (1998)
  4. 'The Island of Dr. Moreau' (1996)
  5. 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation' (1994)
  6. 'The Haunting' (1999)
  7. 'Candyman: Day of the Dead' (1999)
  8. 'The Fear' (1995)
  9. 'Children of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return' (1999)
  10. 'Night of the Dribbler' (1990)

That really is a catalogue of unnecessary remakes and sequels - we don't seem to have learned our lesson here, apart from shot-for-shot remakes, which Psycho, hopefully, killed off.

What's the general opinion of "house on haunted Hill" remake '99?

I'd put it in "so bad it's good" territory. My wife and I were roaring through it.

You're not getting Vincent Price, and the CGI dates it. But the relationship between the Prices (romantically mutually murderous) is dialed up to eleven.

I'm personally hoping for another remake in 2039

I don't know. The Haunting hit when I saw it in theaters when I was 11. There's no possible way it's worse than I remember, right?!

I found it pretty average even when taken on it's own merits. When compared to the well-regarded original it doesn't stand up well.

Man, I actually kind of like the island of Dr Moreau...

Yeah, David Thewlis is always great, and Brando at his weirdest since apocalypse now. Cool monsters, crazy madness. I really don't get the hate. I mean, it's not a great movie, but perfectly fine late night entertainment.
