A place for runners.

Used to be an avid runner, ran plenty of 5K's up to marathons and then got into the ultra scene and ran everything up to and including 100 milers

Just moved in the middle of nowhere and this is nothing but farms. No pavement or dirt roads to run on either. I have a park with a half mile loop about 20 min. out and that's it.

Its nice being out where I am but sucks not having a place to run.

If you can, get friendly with your local farmer. They may welcome someone running around the farm's perimeter to spot any issues like broken fences.

Thought about something like that - Just need to figure out how to get that convo started

You could maybe just start running around their fence until they come out to see what is going on.

Man, I miss living in a rural area where you can safely road run in the countryside. Where did you move, OP? I bet there's great routes that you just haven't discovered yet.

Don't want to give out my location but roads around me are all 55+ now with people pushing 70... Not sure if I am brave enough to run even in the ditches

I checked Strava heat map, Garmin connect maps and hiking app with no luck:( but I'm happy to hear more suggestions

That sucks. Where i grew up it was much of the same, but the shoulders were wide enough to run on when cars were present. You could check AllTrails as well. Maybe train running is better in that area.

As someone who totally fell off the running boat when I moved to an urban location without sidewalks, make the effort to go that extra 20 mins to the half-mile loop. You'll thank yourself. 😭

I feel for you, I used to live in a very mountainous and beautiful area but now I'm in an area with nothing much to look at while running and I have found it's really made running feel more like a chore again :/

Sorry to hear that. Living in the mountains around trails sounds like a dream

Wow that really sucks. Are there any creeks or ditches to run along? Maybe it's time to get some trail shoes and make your own trails.
