Reggaeton star Nicky Jam seems to be rolling back his support for Donald Trump after the Republican nominee mistakenly introduced him as a “hot” woman at a Las Vegas rally over the weekend.

Jam initially made light of the gaffe in an Instagram post—its caption referred to himself, in Spanish, as a “hot woman,” accompanied by no fewer than 22 crying-laughing emojis. But, as of Sunday night, the post had been deleted. The comment section on his most recent post before it, which was unrelated to Trump, was also deactivated.

Jam’s Trump endorsement, amplified by the buzz surrounding the awkwardly inaccurate rally introduction, has made him the subject of relentless criticism—and mockery—across the internet.

How fucking pathetic must you be to go out of your way to suck DonOld's dick just to spit it out when he misgenders you lmao

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 78 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Wow suddenly they care about misgendering. I thought only betas and women care about it. Almost as if it feels bad to be called a gender(ar anything else actually) that you do not identify with.

What a bunch of non-gender-specific sexual organs.

[–] Neon@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

I think it's more he suddenly realized Trump didn't care about him and that if Trump was lying about such trivial stuff as knowing him, he probably lies about a lot more stuff.

Republicans think misgendering people is all fun and games until it happens to them.

Republicans think denying women healthcare if they miscarry it's a good plan until it happens to their loved ones.

Republicans think that having an abortion is a decision full of hate and evil until their daughter wants one.

Republicans think that having active shooters in schools is a mildly unfortunate consequence of important gun freedoms until it happens in their children's schools.

But also republicans are surprised and hurt that their good republican friends aren't supportive when they are the victim of republican behaviour and politics.

"It's not a problem unless it's happened to me" is why people are right wing. It's being self absorbed turned into a political movement for the advancement of shareholder profits.

Republicans think that having an abortion is a decision full of hate and evil until their daughter wants one.

Until their daughter wants one, or their mistress wants one, or the person they raped wants one

Nicky Jam was fine with Trump, seemingly, up until he was misgendered by the latter.

Meaning all Trump's deeds were fine... up until this mistake at Nicky's expense - which was unintentional.

Yet when Trump attacked numerous other people throughout the years, that did not matter for Nicky.

Anyone else see the hypocrisy of the conservative mindset here as well?

I wonder if this Nancy Reagan meme is appropriate.

[–] Pistcow@lemm.ee 39 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Blow job Queen Nancy Reagan? That Nancy Reagan?

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 41 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The Nancy Regan that got pregnant with Ronnie's love child while he was still married to Jane Wyman? That Nancy Regan. Party of family values, ha!

I hear she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose...

I'm a republican, I was the throat goat until Ronnie made an honest(ish?) woman out of me. Now I assume all other women are ho's and make all my life decisions based on this false assumption.

See: welfare mother who keeps having kids to get rich??? or something?

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

The Behind the Bastards podcast on them is pretty good (as are practically all of their content). Nancy gave ferocious BJs to Hollywood execs to keep her foot in the door (though that is not in the BtB) and Ronnie was who Hollywood turned to if they couldn't get an A list or even bona fide B list actor.

Neither were particularly bright. They loved the attention they got in politics, and strove to keep both the masses happy and the people they felt like were behind their ascension to power. They had several gay friends coming up through Hollywood and didn't seem to have any personal issue with gay people, but they felt like they were expected to be publicly against gays because of the image they were expected to uphold. They probably weren't terrible people, they were just useful idiots whom terrible people used to enact policy.

Reagan, virtually a GOP Saint, was probably the tipping point that turned our country into an Oligarchy. His presidency will likely be remembered in history books as being disastrous for the United States of America.

Too late. Maná, one of his musical idols, already pulled their collaboration with him and posted this beauty.

[–] aquinteros@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I dislike mana, but that's a great response

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Noooo.... Mana has some nice bangers

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 216 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is absolutely hilarious.

[–] _bcron@lemmy.world 77 points 2 days ago (5 children)

My only interpretation is that Trump is basically senile grandpa at thanksgiving dinner making a gay jab at someone for having 2 pierced ears. I don't even get how he could genuinely and sincerely mix this up

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 112 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's because he's stupid. And he has no idea who Nicky Jam is. (I don't either)

[–] _bcron@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (4 children)

But like, if you were running for president and about to speak to a crowd you'd probably low key phone half-pull and google the name and do the glance, right? Like 'what city am I even in' type shit, Trump is beyond dumb

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Trump has addressed the wrong city during speeches a bunch of times. Wrong state a few times too, iirc

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 34 points 2 days ago

You would. He wouldn't.

[–] Zexks@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Lmfao. Like trump knows how to “google” anything.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

This dementia patient became notorious for failing to spell "coverage" way back when he still had the occasional good day. He isn't searching around for a damn thing.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 50 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No it's simpler than that. He had no idea who Nicky was, and in his mind that's a female name so clearly introducing her as a hot woman is correct.

It has nothing to actually do with Nicky Jam.

[–] brey1013@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

This is the explanation.

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 37 points 2 days ago

Trump heard 'Nicky' and assumed it was a woman. No additional complexity or nuance is needed.

[–] Signtist@lemm.ee 46 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I guarantee you he asked someone who he was supposed to be introducing right before he went on stage, heard the name Nicky, pictured a woman, and introduced accordingly.

Icing on the cake, music group Mana (cant figure out the tilde needed), scrubbed their collab with him in 2016 from streaming services.. You can't find it anymore.

Meh, if you have seen trump over the last decade and still endorsed him, I don't know how him misgendering you changes that calculus.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

No it has nothing to do with the misgendering itself.

It is 100% that Nicky realized that mistake meant that Trump did absolutely nothing to know who he was, not even looking at a photo, before introducing him on stage. That his endorsement meant literally nothing to him other than the publicity.

While not doing much research is generally common in Hollywood and similar fields, people at least will look at your photo first. Trump didn't even bother to do that.

[–] rbos@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

Not only misgendering and not knowing anything, but for me the cherry was the fact that the only thing TFG could think to say about generic_woman was ... that she was hot. What a stupid go-to. Not smart, savvy, interesting... no, she is obviously hot. That is the best compliment.

Unfuck that guy.

Probably thinking of Nikki Minaj or something.

[–] moon@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 day ago

His ego couldn't take the mockery. Hence the 22 cry-laughing emojis when he was actually seething

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

"It was funny, but now that it is happening to me it is not funny."

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 44 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why did she think that endorsing Trump would work out for her?

He’s still got Kanye, Kid Rock and Nugent, right?

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 49 points 2 days ago (3 children)

They should put out an album together. The combined musical talent on display would be... the combined musical talent on display.

I’m surprised Kid Rock and The Nuge haven’t already worked together. Sounds like a solid platinum record for the lifted truck and Skoal crowd.
