Holy fuck, I'm an idiot
I looked at the timeline and first thought those are landed releases, and wondered who plans so far ahead and what sense it would make to promote them soo early...

I should get some sleep and probably leave the liquor alone now

Don't forget to drink 8 fl. oz (236.5 ml) of water before you go to bed. You're body will thank you tomorrow.

I don’t really understand how anything could be before Prometheus? Didn’t that whole thing imply that David created the Aliens between Prometheus and Alien Covenant? Though I’d quite happily see that whole idea disappear.

Yeah, I was curious about the same thing, when I learned about the placement of the TV show on the timeline. I liked both movies. I liked the direction they were taking and the story that was being told.

I thought the films were okay but I didn’t like the idea that the Aliens hadn’t originated from deep space.

Oh ok. I totally understand that logic. The prequels in your eyes took away the mystery factor.

I found it enjoyable to learn more about where they might have come from and to realize that

spoilerit's telling a cautionary tale of how androids might come to a point where they believe that logically, humans should be removed from the universe for several reasons. But it also brings up where we (as humans,) might have come from (in a sci-fi sense.) I found it fascinating to explore the layers of the interconnected story fabric(s).

So we all agree the entire AVP timeline is noncanonical nonsense.

I'd prefer if Alien: Covenant was non canon. (That's where David creates the Aliens despite Prometheus showing Aliens already existed.)

There is no way in hell it's worse than AVP: Requiem.

[–] TehBamski@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

It seems like that has been the consensus online.

AVP timeline

Never heard of it. /s

Never heard of what...?

I've only watched Alien. Which others do y'all think are worth watching?

[–] TehBamski@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Aliens for sure.

Alien 3 and Alien: Ressurection are often debated as being and not being canon to the franchise.

I liked the prequels, but there are those that did not.

Alien: Romulus IMO was a good movie and worth watching at least once.
