What I mean is, do you enjoy reading on your favourite sofa, or with a cup of tea? Maybe you only read if you can do it for 3-4 hours straight?

How do you settle down to read a good book?

With a glass of scotch, in the hottub, on a cold winter night. I picked up the Kindle Oasis specifically for this purpose, since it is water resistant.

Minus to scotch that sounds like absolute heaven.

Depends how good the book is. If I'm really hooked I can read for hours but I need total silence or some gentle instrumental music. Nothing with lyrics or I end up listening too much to the song. 😆

It also depends on the type of book. I love my "making of" books about films and I buy those in a physical form. If it's fiction, I'm quite happy to read on my basic Kindle. I used the Kindle (3rd gen) for years. It was the model with a keyboard. But during a black Friday sale, my wife bought her and myself a cheap 10th gen model which has the backlight.

I couldn't go back to reading on an e-ink display that didn't have a backlight. One of the things I like most about my Ereader is how light and noiseless it is. It's perfect for reading whilst a baby or a partner sleeps next to you, having to stick a light on top of it like some old-school Gameboy totally ruins that for me.

I too tried book lights on my old Kindle. They were never bright enough and I might as well have turned the light on!

On the toilet and in bed before I go to sleep unless I am properly hooked.

I can't do the 'in bed' reading because well....my second born child decided that I was incorrect and that my bed was actually his bed.

Le sigh.

I must admit that I am often so knackered I'll settle down to read and wake up hours later, cold and wondering why I left the light on.
