Turns out he overestimated his appeal among people capable of basic reasoning skills, so since he's realized he's actually siphoning mostly Trump voters it's time to pull the ripcord on the plan.

The plan was for Biden to be the candidate...

Lots of people didn't want trump or Biden, but were still going to vote for down ballot races.

The presense of literally anyone not named trump or Biden on the ballot would have gotten votes from Biden. Most people won't leave a race blank on the ballot and wouldn't bother a write in, they'd just pick any third option.

But Kamala is bland enough, no one has that objection to voting for her when they normally vote D.

Unless she royally fucks something up, that won't change before the election.

I'd imagine because of that, RFK Jrs donations have dried up from Republicans wanting to stop Biden. There's no monetary incentive now, he never had a chance of winning, and all he's doing is destroying the Kennedy name.

So he's not directly doing it because he can no longer help trump, but the reasons he's dropping out circle back to Biden dropping out.

I don't think RFK jr is cognizant enough to even realize all that. He probably thinks people stopped donating because the media was mean to him

Nah, he has been negotiating with Trump and Harris to see if he could get a cabinet seat. Trump probably said yes and RFK is going to bow out of the election and endorse Trump.

Right...

I was taking about why that is happening, and you disagreed and then said it did happen?

Kennedy contacted BOTH the Harris campaign and Trump campaign and offered his endorsement for one of their cabinet positions.

I’m sure Harris told him to fuck off and Trump said “what position?”

His whole campaign has been bankrolled by far right billionaires to use his family name as a dem spoiler.

The fact that he's acting as a gop spoiler instead is why hes dropping out. At no point would it have been sane for the Harris campaign/admin to give a naked grifter/spoiler candidate a position in her admin. That was always going to be a "no" to what at best would be a Trojan horse.

"“address the nation” on Friday"

I doubt any network is going to give him time for this, and nobody will care following the DNC.

$10 Trump dumps Vance and makes RFK his VP nominee

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

It wouldn't make a difference, but trump is dumb enough to think it will.

And man, if he thought he got shit for Vance, he has no idea what would happen when he goes with RFK.

Like, you thought you were tired of "weird" before?

RFK JR is probably one of the weirdest guys in the country, he talked to Rosanne Bar and she looked at him like he was crazy. I don't know if that's ever happened before...

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Last week it was reported that he approached the Harris campaign, offering an endorsement for a cabinet post. Now he's trying for a position in the Trump misadministration. Sounds illegal.

He is as corrupt as Trump, they belong together.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

Chester A. Arthur would be appalled.

[–] Icalasari@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

I give him a bit of a pass, only because of the brain worm. Really have no idea what functions that worm messed up - Empathy, reasoning, etc.

Everybody around him gets zero pass though since the literally brain damaged old fart has to be getting ideas from somewhere

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 6 points 2 months ago

His Russian handlers are withdrawing him now that is clear he's hurting their own candidate rather than the dems.
