Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.

Because she correctly identified it as a genocide...

St Andrews University's rector has been removed from her role on the university court in a row over comments she made on the Israel-Gaza war.

Stella Maris sent an email to all students referring to "genocidal attacks" by the Israeli government, shortly after she was elected in October.

You can support Israel's genocide but they cancel the fuck out of you if you oppose it.

Something about how to find who rules you....

Are we really stooping to quoting American neo-Nazis now?

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/jan/31/thomas-massie/gop-rep-thomas-massie-wrongly-credits-neo-nazis-qu/

There's enough shittery going on with Israel deliberately conflating legitimate criticism of their genocidal actions with actual anti-semitism without feeding it by people using nazi quotes as an argument.

Want to take a guess at the nationality of the complainants? In my opinion it should hold no weight unless multiple people from multiple backgrounds find it offensive.

This is like the national front complaining about people calling them fascist, then action being taken against them.

Just like the ICC / ICJ did! Oh wait! 😔

Universities and pro-Netanyahu censorship. Name a more iconic couple, I'll wait.

Of course BBC can't call a genocide a genocide without putting quotes around it. What a nakedly propagandistic bunch of fascist sympathizers. Can you imagine doing that in the 1940s? "St Andrew's rector removed from role after Eastern front 'genocide' comments".

And it's always been like this in the BBC. During World War Two, BBC broadcasters were expressly told not to call the Nazis evil or wicked, even though we could and did call them "the enemy".

It's funny actually, because they removed the fucking " " around terrorists, when they referred to Hamas in the older article...

Now, they're deciding to apply it here?

Either way, BBC is a weaselly bunch for the former empire...

With the same have happened if she claimed Palestinians have been trying to perpetrate a genocide of Jews?
