Would be a good price for Arsenal though I'm a bit surprised West ham aren't hanging in for more of a bidding war. Maybe they want to get the money to start buying replacements quick

Chelsea have really ruined the market. A few years ago 92m pounds would’ve been a crazy price.

I think PSG is the one who broke the market by signing neymar. His transfer fee is 222 million euro on 2017. After that, player market irreparably broke due to fear of clubs losing talent to oil backed clubs...

Pogba went for about 80 ish million YEARS ago and Rice is a much better player.

Juve Pogba was special though

Of course he is, just "much better" seems like a lot

Isn't he just steadier. A good shield in front of defense but he's not what Pogba was supposed to be. That said, he's undoubtedly a better way to spend 80+ million than Pogba ever turned out to be.

No, he's very good up the pitch too, hell he's the reason why West ham scored the second goal v us

I don't disagree. But he's not what Pogba was at Juventus and I mean the promise of Pogba.

For Rice? Absolutely. He's one of the best CMs in the world, English and only 24. He's a HUGE signing.

Let's hope he works out better than our last record signing.

does anybody know how reliable this source is?

[–] Naryn@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

For West Ham news they're very good

Fab's most recent tweet on Rice one hour ago suggests Arsenal still working on the bid.

not to contradict, just pointing it out

Used to be one of the most reliable sources for west ham. Don't know if he still is.

Who does WH have in their sights as a replacement? Seems like a huge blow to their squad

Reminds me of Villa losing Grealish and signing 3 players with the funds in hopes of collectively replacing him (didn’t work out too well on those particular transfers though)

[–] freebrick@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do they have any money left? Who's their next target?

[–] Naryn@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Caciedo, Cancelo, Gundogan and Castagne seem to be the names being thrown about. Obviously not all of them
