This is a terrible bill. It would mean that every citizen would need their birth certificate or passport to vote. It would be election workers could be bankrupted in civil court. It is illegal under current law for anyone thatis not a citizen to vote.

This would disenfranchise many eligible voters.

OP doesn't realize that only citizens have ever been allowed to vote

Meanwhile, Alabama is holding onto millions of dollars in unspent federal funds meant to support low-income families, despite a growing need for assistance.

Benefit levels for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families in Alabama ranked 50th in the country as a percentage of the federal poverty level, according to a report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Alabama’s TANF benefit is only $215 a month for a family of three, less than half the national median of $492. According to the latest USDA Cost of Food report, the monthly cost to feed a child age 9-11 is about $230.

Instead of distributing that money to needy families they just hold onto it and use it for other things.

But they're spending time making sure votes that were never counted anyway are illegal to cast in the first place, so they got that going for them, which is nice.
