Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.

I'm only here to say, if you have canker sores change your toothpaste. I've been suffering from them for most of my life until I discovered they are mainly caused by the SLS in common toothpaste (sodium lauryl sulfate). Use one that instead has sodium fluoride and you're good. (Sensodyne is a good brand)
Yes! Also acidic foods (yes coffee is acidic) and cola as well as any lemonade, spicy food, strawberries etc hurt and can make cankers worse. Do not drink coffee or cola when you have cankers. Rinse /gargle with warm salt water several times a day and they heal very quickly. Rinse your mouth after eating acidic foods too if you can’t resist.
trigger warning eating disorders A lot of medication’s can cause cankers, as well as stress, and I remember having cankers all the time when I was suffering from ED (bulimia) even after rinsing and brushing right afterward.
Also, having someone in the dental field in my family I will say get screened for cancer at your dentist appointments and know the signs of oral cancers.
I also wanted to add that, although I have never had any type of injections, my friends who get lip injections have complained about getting cankers, and I know one time when I was using crest white strips. I was getting cankers all the time with white strips and didn’t make that connection. They are extremely painful, and I don’t wish pain on anybody. Honestly gargling with warm salt water helps so much!
I get them when I eat too many strawberries because of the acid

Just saying.... Filler in the lips can become so hard as to erode through the delicate lip surface, causing ulcers and sores

Meanwhile in the last few days I'm watching my country fall apart. It already has been, but some dystopian things are happening in the US right now. The supreme Court criminalizing homelessness, while we have a housing crisis. Legalized corporate bribery. Judges getting to decide whatever they want and go against actual field experts in many aspects of life quality and safety, to further prioritize profits. Politicians voting to conceal official Gaza death toll records to further deny the genocide they are funding. Two states ruling to put religion in public school classrooms.
She's so privileged and out of touch, I refuse to listen to her complain unapologetically about shit that doesn't ultimately matter. Her existence is so vapid and substanceless. I may be pretty compassion fatigued and it does suck, and I am losing sleep over many things going on in the world and my country. But I feel good in knowing I genuinely care for my fellow living beings on this planet. I cannot imagine being so out of touch and unbothered by the state of the world.
This is what I love to read! People HAVE to call out S and her friends who legit get sponsored for being nobodies who post mediocre content littered with overspending and supporting products if slavery and genocide! They are posting brand or affiliate codes they got for being either pretty or cis women or friends of them, and they are doing nothing! Attend a protest! Boycott! Two FREE things they can do to help but they don’t. They don’t call out problematic friends who are a benefit to them which is exactly what politicians do.
The criminalization of homelessness is gut-wrenching. I work with the homeless population, and we’re all wondering what’s going to happen next. Listening to Sarah whine about canker sores while at Disney, with her family, while remodeling her HOME while her OTHER home is being rented out at exorbitant cost is mind-blowing. She’s so out of touch. Someone has to try to be that dumb and clueless.

It's been four months between Disney vacations for our bo-po qween. She's only had Mexico, LAX 2, Palm Springs, Miami, NYC x3 + many other vacations since January. Now a canker sore. 😵 Where does she get the strength to continue?
