These are incredibly beautiful.

Can I commission you for a tattoo? I’d like a Columbus style ship in this style. Been thinking about it for over 10 years and your art and line work is exactly what was in my mind but don’t have the talent to create!

Thank you, it’s a lovely offer and I’m flattered by it. But I’m not sure I’d be very good at drawing a ship. It’s not in my natural realm and would have to spend a bit of time on it. I’ve had requests for tattoo designs before and realised I’m in a different market. You’d be commissioning an original artwork so I’d have to charge my usual commission rates (around NZ$1000) which is more than most people are willing to pay for a tattoo design. I’m not entirely shut off to the idea if you’re still keen after that, but I’m assuming probably not.

I wish I could get this painted on canvas, very tasteful like Greek statues. Might be nice with a dirty tan backdrop, or a color similar to parchment, in a rectangular frame, more wide than tall.

That’s beautiful. How long have you been doing Sumi-e?

Thank you! I've been doing it about 5 years.
