im stuck between "Hot" and "Top Day", hot sorting definitely updates more frequently but they both have their upsides

top 16 comments
sorted by: hot top controversial new old

I was using "active," but I just tried "new comments" and it's pretty cool

[–] mlsus@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i do like how it's a nice blend between new posts and popular posts, i might switch to it

[–] peanuts4life@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh I didn't know it blended them. Thanks!

[–] mlsus@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

im pretty sure it just ranks posts by how long ago the newest comment was, but it does have the side effect of blending them

When I learned about the New tab, I chose New. Hot is confusing, I have it on Hacker News and I always miss stuff.

I switched to New and have been liking hat a lot more than Active

I'm currently on "active" but find myself turning on "new comments" a lot and I think I might make that switch permanent.

New, for now. Very useful for finding updates.

New has been rather essential while we are still a small community. I have found my feeds to become repetitive in a way I remember Reddit being nearly a decade ago.

I use Posts > New and Comments > New, and I also alternate between Subscribed and Local, so that I can get a diverse stream of content without necessarily being subscribed to every single community on Beehaw.

I've been running on All - New to get a feed of everything currently indexed on my instance. Active seems to be moving pretty slowly, so I probably need to go index a bunch more communities.

Something different than the default active. Still experimenting.

I'm still gerting used to the whole thing, just found the hot sort. Think I will probably go for that most often now.

Hot is my favorite so far!
