Haven't had any real horror story situations but probably the worse shop experience I had was when I went to do an online transfer/4473 and the owner saw the online invoice in the box and chastised me the whole time I was filling in the paperwork and waiting saying that I got ripped off and that I should buy directly from him next time because he could "get anything and sell it just a bit above manufacturer prices"

So the next purchase I wanted, I called him up and he said his best price was $200 over what I was looking at online.

I drive across town to a different FFL now.

I got called a pussy for buying a .380 EZ. Despite the fact I like those guns a lot, it was for my wife's birthday so she could have something to actually enjoy at the range. She carries a 42. I didn't buy it there.

I had a pretty weird experience. Went to buy a Ruger and the salesman kept insisting the 4473 forms didn't need to be accurate, and it "really didn't matter", and I should just fill them out quickly.

The vibe was off so I left.

A gun shop in Vermont that used to be open had nothing but Islamophobic posts on their Facebook, saying they want to shoot any Muslim that gets near them. When I went in to look at guns before seeing their page, I walked in and was insulted and belittled because someone saw that I had a democratic candidate sticker on my truck when I pulled in. They opened shop in one of the most left leaning areas. They closed less than a year after opening.
