I'll miss them, though I certainly share in the blame of not buying them enough.

I'm stockpiling so I can still have some every now and then. From what I can tell, the cheapest I've found (excl eBay) is here: https://goodgroceries.com.au/products/allens-fantales-1kg-1?variant=42091381293253

By the way, hello all. First comment here coming from reddit.

Hey, and welcome to Lemmy! I hope you'll find it as friendly and welcoming as I have.

Damn I wish I had jumped on that link and ordered as soon as I saw it. Price jumped from ~$70 to ~$90 between then and now. Ah well, better get going before it gets even worse!

These things should’ve been banned by the Geneva convention. They almost rip out fillings!

What will work put into the sweetie bowls now for courses?

Mentos as far as the eye can see...

Nothing wrong with a chewy dragee!

How are kids supposed to pull their baby teeth out now? Minties and redskins used to be the go-to but they've become soft.

[–] zidanerick@aussie.zone 3 points 1 year ago

If cinema's actually started stocking them again I'd probably buy them more often, they last much longer through a movie than popcorn does. But yeah as others have said they have been hard to find on shelves for a while now

We have these and Minties mixed in a perpetually fillled bowl at the office. I reflexively grab one every time I walk past. Lately i let the chocolate coating melt in my mouth and chuck the caramel bit out. If they released chocolate coated rocks instead I'd probably be ok with that.

Damn, I was only thinking last night how I wanted a Polly Waffle. Guess I'll add fantales to the list. Nearly bought some in Coles last week as they were half price.

I personally was looking for fantales not 1 month ago and was unable to find anywhere.

I went to 2 different shops.

It would be pretty funny if this was marketing to make a wave of sales

Choco Taco 2.0

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/08/05/business-food/choco-taco-return/index.html

Klondike appalled the internet when it said that the Choco Taco would be discontinued. This week, it reversed course, saying the beloved ice cream treat may be coming back — eventually.

“We’ve heard our fans, and we’re hoping to bring this favorite treat back to ice cream trucks in the coming years!”

Now how am I supposed to entertain the relatives with endless "Who am I?" guessing games?

[–] Lintson@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If by endless you mean the repeating 12 or so on the wrapper reel?

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I honestly think this is part of the problem for Fantales. Same problem with the Chews by The Natural Confectionary Company. It doesn't take very long at all until you're familiar with everything, and then the novelty wears off. It surely couldn't take a lot of effort to have, like, one person spending a day per year coming up with enough new facts to create a lot of variety, and another day or two writing them up properly, could it?

[–] Alfreido@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago

If Carlton Draught can do it, Fantales surely could.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago

I agree. I mean, people like chocolate. People like caramel. People like trivia. Can't help but see this as a major fail by the company.

"Fantales": the cross platform app. Only $4.99.
