I’m not too surprised. The last show of theirs I heard about was a generic magical girl show, except it was sponsored by some car company so their broomsticks had tail lights and blinkers on the back.

The legacy of Evangelion is in Studio Khara ran by Hideaki Anno, and the legacy of Gainax has been in Studio Trigger since 2013 when Kill La Kill came out.

I heard that he purchased the Gainax trademark so now he and the original creator (who he is friends with) own FLCL

Studio Trigger has been their spiritual successor for a while now anyway.

Is Trigger the ones who's going to be putting out the new season of PSG, or did that just become vaporware

Accumulating debts and loaning money to their executives, according to the article.

A wise investment

It all returns to nothing, it all comes Tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down

tbh I thought gainax was already dead due to some embezzlement thing

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

The embezzlement thing or tax evasion thing? The tax thing was because of one guy running with that money and is why the last two episodes of Eva are the way they are.

The studio has lost their top talent director Anno and Hiroyoki long time ago and hasn't been making shows recently, so it's not too surprising
