I thought it was more that if you killed them in OTHER ways, they would come back to life. The stake through the heart is to make sure a vampire is good and actually dead, and not just hibernating.

Yep, same with silver bullets. They're actually my weakness too (don't tell anyone, okay?)
To be honest, some days I feel like the sun is my weakness as much as a vampire. Especially with summer coming up.
Found the Irish person.
The sun also burns my skin if I stay out too long.
I don't even have to be out that long, and sometimes I hiss when my wife opens the blinds in the morning.
Yeah, but how well would most everyone else do with a wooden stake through the liver?
I don't know about a wooden stake, but once ate a woodman's steak which I'm sure hit my liver at some point through the digestive process.

Wolfs Bane, silver bullets, and fires ain't good for you either.
Yes that's exactly the point. Their weaknesses make them mortal.
Joke's on you, I'm heartless.
But can you survive the BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT of a GAU-8 Avenger?
Of course. It's the same with witches. If they don't burn they're a witch, of they burn they were innocent. It's always been about controlling the uneducated masses.
Found the vampire
This reminds me of a book I read can't rememebr what, where a bunch of kids were prospecting for gold, they knew aqua regia, (royal water), composed of two parts of hydrochloric acid, and one part of nitric acid would dissolve the gold....so they ran the test and the ore dissolved....what they failed to comprehend is aqua regia dissolves pretty much everything. It is the fact that gold ONLY dissolves in it that is the point and they had intact only struck copper.
They can never have garlic bread either.
Maybe even more so, sleeping all day like that...
