General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Lammy seems to get singled out for criticism by both sides of politics. I suppose some of it is fair since he is the shadow foreign secretary.

He's an unprincipled bootlicker.

Any context for what Lammy said? Not that don't believe David Lammy would say dumb shit like this for votes, he totally would, I just don't trust the one sided journalism of skwawkbox.

I don't doubt that he's sincere, but just because he's Nelson Mandela's grandson doesn't make him that different from other people. I mean Winnie Mandela turned out to be a lovely person didn't she?

Or is it the association with 'that' name grants him the special status? Would people be agreeing with him or taking notice if he said the opposite?

He could be wrong, but he has a better chance of knowing what his grandfather would have thought about something than a random lawyer.
