Ok I’ll ask, how did you lose your PC post breakup?

[–] Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Nothing crazy, it was ours, bought under a shared budget while living together, and the PC was one of the stuff he wanted to leave with. Sucks but stuff has to be divvied up, each person has to lose out on some stuff in order for it to be fair.

[–] felicity@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah it sucks having to part with some of your stuff, but you sound like a very fair person. Have fun with your new computer!

Well OW2 and Vicky 3 already exist and CS2 is playable for some people. A great time for you.

Jokes aside, maybe check the current sales and see what interests you.

Can’t believe they canceled PVE for OW2! 😢

I can't really reccomend Vic III, if he enjoys Vic II, Vic III is a radically different game than that. He would probably want to do a lot of looking into it to see if he likes where the third game took the series.

I followed the dev diary for the first few months and it seems like a huge shift from what I was reading. I haven’t watched gameplay of it though, did it have a good release or are we waiting for dlc?

[–] Denvil@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The general consensus I think is that the release was horrible, and the game is... alright, not great, not horrible. The first DLC, Voices of the People, has HORRIBLE reviews with only 26% positive on Steam tho, people are upset that instead of inproving the game itself, they added flavor for a single country instead. The popular theory is that they did this so they could give all the people who preordered the first couple DLCs crappy DLC just to fulfill that promise, and have the actual important DLC later so they have to pay for it.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, as this is very much not my experience. The game definitely has rough edges, but I found it fun and did a couple full playthroughs before setting it down. And the first expansion is always a flavor pack. It said this in the preorder, it's been that way since CK2, it's what they said would happen in the dev diaries. I can't say it's one of their better flavor packs, but this whole conspiracy theory take is strange to me.

Could the game be in a better state: yes. Should they have pushed back the flavor pack for more QoL free patches: yes. Is it a shitty game: No

Are you looking for one specific genre or are you in the "new PC, give me shiny games" phase? Because I have different recommendations based on what you're feeling like at the moment

[–] Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

New PC, give me shiny games and maybe some niche RTS management game's you’re a fan of.

[–] psudo@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

If you like/are interested in the tycoon type of RTS management games, I really enjoyed Jurassic World Evolution. Instead of building an amusement park, you build a zoo of dinosaurs, often rescuing them from the wilds (after they escaped from the movies).

Otherwise RimWorld, which you said you have, and Dwarf Fortress are the classics but can be hard to get into. I hate recommending going to YouTube, but I know there are some "let's plays" that can really help you get over the hump that comes after the tutorial.

Do you know any decent guides? I bought this game back in 2020 but it just kind of sat in my library after I played the tutorial.

[–] CookieJarObserver@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

There are basically none, you learn while playing and making mistakes is part of the experience if you want to learn, play, or watch a let's play.

[–] Crow_of_Minerva@feddit.it 1 points 1 year ago

I would suggest you to just play the in-game tutorial and then to learn by dying. Like in Dwarf Fortress, the focus is the story of your town/colony and your every NPC's, and "Losing is fun!"

If you're looking for another team based shooter, "Deceive Inc." looks decent and has good reviews. Never played it myself though, not really my genre.

[–] Tgnome@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I haven't played it myself but a bunch of my friends speak very highly of it and the creative ways you can figure out which npcs are actually players.
