Discussion Community for fellow Marxist-Leninists and other Marxists.

Rules for /c/communism

Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.

  1. No non-marxists

This subreddit is here to facilitate discussion between marxists.

There are other communities aimed at helping along new communists. This community isn't here to convert naysayers to marxism.

If you are a member of the police, armed forces, or any other part of the repressive state apparatus of capitalist nations, you will be banned.

  1. No oppressive language

Do not attempt to justify your use of oppressive language.

Doing this will almost assuredly result in a ban. Accept the criticism in a principled manner, edit your post or comment accordingly, and move on, learning from your mistake.

We believe that speech, like everything else, has a class character, and that some speech can be oppressive. This is why speech that is patriarchal, white supremacist, cissupremacist, homophobic, ableist, or otherwise oppressive is banned.

TERF is not a slur.

  1. No low quality or off-topic posts

Posts that are low-effort or otherwise irrelevant will be removed.

This is not a place to engage in meta-drama or discuss random reactionaries on lemmy or anywhere else.

This includes memes and circlejerking.

This includes most images, such as random books or memorabilia you found.

We ask that amerikan posters refrain from posting about US bourgeois politics. The rest of the world really doesn’t care that much.

  1. No basic questions about marxism

Posts asking entry-level questions will be removed.

Questions like “What is Maoism?” or “Why do Stalinists believe what they do?” will be removed, as they are not the focus on this forum.

  1. No sectarianism

Marxists of all tendencies are welcome here.

Refrain from sectarianism, defined here as unprincipled criticism. Posts trash-talking a certain tendency or marxist figure will be removed. Circlejerking, throwing insults around, and other pettiness is unacceptable.

If criticisms must be made, make them in a principled manner, applying Marxist analysis.

The goal of this subreddit is the accretion of theory and knowledge and the promotion of quality discussion and criticism.

One of the members who skipped (anonymized):

They tried defending themselves on Twitter, saying they "didn't feel comfortable" meeting the President. It's no wonder why. I think all of the members who skipped are Miami gusanos part of the Trot/SAlt caucuses

[–] felipeforte@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 6 months ago

No need to anonymize them, we need to know their names, and who they are. We need to recognize our class traitors.

SAlt as in "Socialist Alternative"?

Yeah, they've always been wreckers and sectarians.

My Australian comrades hate a similar org called "Socialist Alternative" in, well, Australia; I think they have multiple branches, the most well-known being the one in America and, I think, the UK, correct me if I'm wrong.

[–] ProbablyKaffe@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Yes that org. Their only success is Sawant's councilship in Seattle. Just another petty bourg "socialist" org.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 6 points 6 months ago
[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 3 points 6 months ago

It's disappointing to see them doing this shit because Sawant is actually really good by US standards and they should just stick to local politics if that is all they are good for and never ever be allowed to represent anything on the international level.

[–] bleepingblorp@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 6 months ago

The original post isn't about Socialist Alternative though? Those caucuses belong to the DSA (Democratic Socialists of Amerikkka).

Oh great, 4th generation gusano still can't overcome the generational trauma of losing land and slaves

[–] KrupskayaPraxis@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 6 months ago

Fuck DSA, I hope they are never welcome in Cuba again.

[–] Jabril@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 6 months ago

DSA is the true FEDiverse

[–] taiphlosion@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yeah we tore them to pieces like twice lol this shit still makes me mad.

No need when they put the jackets on by themselves, knowingly or not.

People who get rhetorically close but don't cross were never going to in the first place.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Even so, wantonly fed-jacketing can ruin a community and has been done by actual feds.

[–] tarbeez@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Hmm. You gotta expain this one to me. Calling out these bozos (it's your post tho?) will ruin which community?

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net -2 points 6 months ago (2 children)

In the past, feds would fed-jacket communists in order to divide the community and start witch-hunts against fellow comrades, turning comrades against comrades.

This happened especially during the 60s/70s.

And in other eras.

It's a common FBI tactic.

[–] OhHiMarx@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So no one can be called a Fed even if they do the most Fed-like things?

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net -3 points 6 months ago

Not unless we know for sure.

[–] tarbeez@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

...right. I understand the concept, but cheers. I fail to see how it applies here. To a post criticising a socialist group for being undercover libs, the oppest of ops lol. A post you submitted mind. Come on.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 3 points 6 months ago (2 children)

It's not right to wantonly call others feds if we don't have enough information. Come on now, comrade.

[–] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

There's a difference between fed jacketing DSA and fed jacketing named individuals. DSA is absolutely infiltrated.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 2 points 6 months ago

Every org is infiltrated.

[–] Comprehensive49@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

It doesn't really matter whether we do or not. These kinds of people are utterly useless and treacherous all the same.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 0 points 6 months ago

There are many good comrades in DSA.

It matters because it shouldn't be normalized.

It seems Red Star is the only caucus in the DSA with decent revolutionary socialist politics, at least according to this overview.

Socialist Majority and Reform&Revolution are both Democrat aligned caucuses. Even worse, they are the two largest caucuses in the DSA.

This issue reflects the fundamentally treacherous nature of the USA white settler left as discussed by J Sakai in his book Settlers, which is mostly only interested in increasing its own share of the colonial spoils rather than actual international liberation.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 3 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Settlers is a bad book though. Read Hinterland.

[–] starkillerfish@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 6 months ago (2 children)

why is settlers a bad book?

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 6 points 6 months ago

It was written in 1979 and contradicted by other books. It's only one book.

Read all the books.

[–] QueerCommie@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 6 months ago

It’s definitely worth reading, but you should also read more up to date books that aren’t totally blackpilled.
