When I tried Mastodon, I found I couldn't get the content I'm interested in there. I'm not really interested in following specific people; instead I want to see posts that fit my interests, regardless of who made them. Hence (apparently very unpopular on the Fediverse), I actually want an algorithm that can create a personalized content feed for me. Is there a platform that has that?

I use to have a good "For you" algorithm on Twitter. i think it changed when the blue checks went on sale. Suddenly those I enjoyed seeing every day disappeared from my feed (because they refused to pay for checkmarks), and dumb shit filled the voids (crap posts from those that did pay for checkmarks). Tapping "not interested in this tweet" for every fucking tweet does nothing. my feed is just unwanted shit and tons of ads. I went ahead and tucked the Twitter icon away in a folder, because it's become unusable.

Threads might be a good alternative. a lot of big names from Twitter have been posting there, so I've been seeing a lot more stuff I might be interested in.

I try to follow hashtags on Mastodon, but i had been getting ads (advertisers and spambots put hashtags in their posts) and a bunch of posts in various languages I've set Mastodon not to display (they get through because the user sets their language to English, regardless of what they actually speak/write).
