The company rolled out Google One's VPN feature back in 2020, but you could only access it if you're paying for a plan with at least 2TB of storage, which costs at least $10 a month.

it's discontinuing the feature because "people simply weren’t using it."

What the heck was Google One? For a company that sells ads, they sure suck at marketing.

Cloud storage used by Google Mail, Photos and Drive combined.

Yeah they didn't really need to advertise it specifically. It's a core part of a lot of their other tools

Edit: the cloud storage didn't need advertised. I've never heard of their vpn before even though sounds like I technically had access to it lol
