Taiwan has always been a bit fascy.
When Kai Cheks party split from the CCP, he ordered the killing of any communists still inside his own party effectively starting a civil war. Kai chek eventually lost and fled to Taiwan where he ruled until his death.
That bit of history is crazy interesting and also illuminating regarding current Chinese policy. I'd really encourage anyone to read up on it
Do you have a source you like? Cuz I'm interested in reading about this
China at War by Hans van de Ven is about China's history from 1937 to 1952 and covers the conflict between the Communist party and the nationalists.
Thank you very much, ill start there
The yt channel Eyes Wide Open has a series on CIA history and theres a good episode on this war. Of curse, the focus is the CIA participation, but its still a good source regardless
