It can't be worse. Next to Alien I think the Matrix has been the most poorly treated IP in memory.

Terminator has entered the chat

I don't think Star Wars can qualify since it's had a sprinkling of good stuff mixed in with the mountains of schlock.

There's good schlock and there's bad schlock. OG trilogy had a bit of both but after that it was very hit and miss.

Yes...I liked T3 sort of. The ending was on point at least...boy it's been a bad ride since then though.

I thought Salvation was pretty ok. My expectations were not very high, but it didn’t feel bad.

Halo coughed some clotted brown blood in response to this comment.

Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of the ‘love conquers all” direction we went with the last one. Hope they fold in some more inspired nineties postmodern sci fi elements/themes

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Tbf, they kinda did that in the original too, but at least it had the rest of the movie to make up for it

[–] Ragnarok314159@sopuli.xyz 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It was more to always have hope rather than love conquers all.

Not at all. At the heart of the first movie there’s the story of Neo and Trinity falling in love and the love of Neo and rest of the crew and how he learns to accept and love his true self. The second movie is about the nature of love when committing to someone else and the lengths one can go to save, help and free them. The third movie is about acknowledging that love is real and everyone deserves it - even the machines and so Neo essentially learns to love all the machines because he realises they love their children too.

I thought we were talking about Terminator. My bad.

That’s the point of the Marrix though - love is what allows us to find enough common ground with the machines to move forward together and stop the endless war. It’s been the theme of all the movies.
