President Joe Biden had conspiracy theorists in a tizzy after posting what appeared to be his reaction to the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl win on Sunday night.

“Just like we drew it up,” Biden posted on X alongside a photo of “Dark Brandon,” the meme created by hardcore—and very online—supporters of Donald Trump that Biden and his team loved so much they adopted it as their own.

The post was apparently referencing far-right conspiracy theories which posit the NFL and high-level government operatives conspired to rig the Super Bowl in Kansas City’s favor to give maximum exposure to a yet-to-be-announced endorsement from Chiefs star Travis Kelce and his girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Vote third party down-ballot by all means, because alternatives need a wider base to start taking more of the spotlight. However, the current voting system is a devil's bargain. If you refuse to play the game, you lose anyway.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

a third party vote is just an indirect vote for republicans and their fasciastic fetishism.

[–] bigMouthCommie@kolektiva.social -3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

the only ways i can lose is if a democrat or a republican wins

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

As Calvin Coolidge said, "you lose."

[–] bigMouthCommie@kolektiva.social -2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

sounds like the kind of thing someone would say if they were trying to suppress the vote.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Just popped in to say-

A throwaway vote can’t be suppressed, because it doesn’t matter one way or another. It’s like adding a grain of sugar to a family-sized chili recipe. It’s irrelevant. So go ahead and drop it in there…. It isn’t going to make the slightest difference.

No one is trying to suppress your vote. You’re not a victim here. Now you’re free to respond as you predictably will- I’m not going to argue with you and get any more comments removed or banned from any communities. I said what I said for the benefit of anyone reading along, and not to engage with you or your attempts to bait people.

[–] bigMouthCommie@kolektiva.social -5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

this is mask-off telling people not to bother voting for their candidate.

if on election day, an hour after teh polls open, everyone calls the election for cornel west, and people say "you can vote for one of the genocidal maniacs, but it won't matter. they can't possibly win", no one would characterize that any way except voter suppression.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (3 children)

That isn't what's happening right now though, is it? If Cornel West wins the election, you are hereby allowed to message me, find and meet me, and punch me in the dick, up to fifty times, and then I will give you my wallet, eat my hat, and shit my pants.

So in summary what I am telling you is that Cornel West will never be president in 2024, not in any universe, because that is not how this flawed and adversely designed big evil system works. And if stating a plain fact, regrettable though it may be, is voter suppression in your mind, then we simply speak different languages, and I will wish you a happy whatever you call Tuesdays in your reality.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

If they did cash in on this bet, I'd be laughing the whole time.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

your mockery doesn't change whether it's a voter suppression tactic

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

They feebly croaked. I'm devastated for you.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca -1 points 9 months ago

your mockery still doesn't change the facts

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Cornell West won't be President because (so far) he's only on the ballot in Alaska. He had a chance as a Green Party candidate, he has no chance now.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Beside the point really. He was F'ed from the jump

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

For starters, you need to look up the definition of genocide and stop using it incorrectly as an argument. Secondly, saying someone is irrelevant and pointless isn’t suppression. It’s an opinion.

I never once suggested that anyone shouldn’t vote for them. THAT would be suppression.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I think we just have different ideas of what voter suppression looks like.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 2 points 9 months ago

Well, I follow this definition.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I wasn't arguing about the definition of genocide. it's a pretty outlandish hypothetical for you to be worried about that.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I wasn’t arguing it either…. But you called the two options “genocidal maniacs” which is an incorrect usage of the term.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

in this hypothtical, those are the other two options. I would know: I wrote the hypothetical

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Again, I’d ask you to look up the definition of genocide.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

ok. you look up hypothetical, and we can meet back here to discuss!!

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I’m not going to agree they’re genocidal for the sake of continuing a discussion. Either we both adhere to reality, or we’re done here.

I don’t do hypotheticals.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

my whole comment was a hypothetical. so.... bye.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

If making up an altered reality is what it takes for you to participate in a discussion, you might want to look into how things are in reality and try and work with that. It’s a lot easier for everyone if the rules are the same.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I assumed everyone here had a similar level of reading comprehension. that was my mistake. have a nice night.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

The person who got called out for thinking that using hypotheticals is an easy way to manufacture a win in a discussion/debate is an accusing me of poor reading comprehension?

Yeah.

[–] maypull@lemmy.ca 0 points 9 months ago

there is a lot to unpack there, but i don't see the point. you said you were done so ... leave.
