Not really. My most visited subs on reddit (fuck spez) were Rimworld, Zomboid, Hunt Showdown and various hobby/profession subs (graphic design, illustration, itap, photography). I'm fairly confident a UX/UI sub will pop up sooner rather than later considering how techie Lemmy's userbase seems to be. Iirc there is a gaming related comm on beehaw, but the odds those three games will be talked about is rather slim.
Edit: also, Swoleacceptance. Recently got back to the gym due to mental health. Was a gym rat years ago but life got in the way.
Upvoted for the โfuck spezโ
Would definitely be keen to see a Rimworld sub (magazine? whatever it's called lol) on here!
already exists, but only 3 subs and no content. you can search for it here: https://browse.feddit.de/
Once you find something you like there, how do you subscribe?
Yeah its all a bit confusing.
Say, you find an entry in https://beehaw.org/c/creative that you like and you'd like to subscribe to the whole community.
IF someone in your home instance (lemmy.ml) has already added ...creative, you can just search for it in "communities" and you can then open and subscribe on the righthand side.
IF however you are the first in your home instance to access it, then you have to add it manually.
I do the following (someone more experience may enlighten us if there's a better way):
Use https://browse.feddit.de/ to find the community or just copy the link of the main community (in this case https://beehaw.org/c/creative)
Be logged in in your homeinstance, click on the magnifying glass top right to search and then paste the link and search. The community will show up as a link and you can go there and subscribe.
Edited for some clarity.
This is probably the most succinct explanation of how to add comms that are outside of your home instance that I've come across, good stuff!
You should see if you can get this pinned somewhere more visible I think it'd help a lot of Reddit refugees
I feel you on the mental health getting in the way of the gym. I've recently started getting back into share due to improving my mental health and I'm kicking myself for not going back sooner.
I'm hoping some more niche hobby/profession communities will come over soon. If not I may have to start one and that's a scary thought.
I'm not sure I'm feeling the mental health benefits yet (today I did get an endorphin rush however, first time in a while), but I've been back for a very short time. Dealing with some injuries and post covid symptoms now, mostly endurance related, as well, which hasn't been fun but eh, I've been worse. At the very least I've gone down a few sizes and look okay in most of my wardrobe. Though I will say, I did miss pull day.
Agree on the scary thoughts. I'm not much of a social person and have committment issues, I'd be a terrible mod, lol.
Yeah it took a little while to feel the mental health benefits, basically once I also fixed my sleep schedule. But the hardest part was sticking to it earlier on.
I've only been working out again for a couple months and I usually focus on body weight stuff and cardio. I've never been big on getting swoll just filled out of that makes sense.
I've definitely got some old injuries that like to make things tough but I just remember the physical therapy I had to do for them and add those exercises back into the mix.
Start it, it helps with the user migration when potential new sign ups visit lemmy for the first time, someone will probably offer to moderate it on your behalf in the future
