Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No political or social cause agenda pushing.

MODERATORS

Von Ryan's Leapers and Barbgaunts. I'm not as pleased with the yellow-on-purple guns this time as I was with that scheme on the Termagants. May need to revisit that later.

Also need to find a good neon tufts to help the bases give a better sense of space like @shepherd@kbin.social suggested.

C&C welcome!

I'm not a 40k player, or even a model collector, but I enjoy looking at models other peoplw have painted and have passing knowledge of the lore.

I really like the paint jobs you've done - I saw another of your posts the other day, and it was great.

Are there somewhat agreed upon colour schemes by the 40k community? I know some of the human models need colours for their factions (like salamanders etc). Is it the same way with the other groups?

One of the greatest things about building a Tyranids army (or at least when I played during 3rd/4th/5th edition) is that you can more or less do whatever color scheme you enjoy the most. There are more than a handful ideas out there based on the different Tyranid Fleets in the lore though. Also agreed that this person's doing one bangup of a job!

Outstanding work. I didn't mention it, but I like the texture on the spines of your Tyranids. Really cool details

Thanks! Full transparency: I don't really play either and most just paint, but what I understand is that in the new edition your faction is simply "Tyranids" so it doesn't matter what color scheme or Hive Fleet you paint them up as.

Even with the Space Marines, you don't need to be totally limited to the official color schemes for a given group. There are plenty of official successor chapters with radically different colors and it's fine to make up your own successor chapter with yet another scheme.

With these guys, I had done a few Genestealer Cults guys with purple jumpsuits a while ago and wanted to mirror that as though the GSC wardrobe was intended to match the Tyranid's flesh.
