If you have just paid rego then you should get most of it refunded. I managed to total my last car on the first day the registration started and got the whole year's worth back.

Unfortunately the insurance premium does not get refunded - and if you pay monthly they will deduct the rest of the year's premiums from your payout figure, which can be a bit of an unexpected sting.

Oh no. My car’s actually ok.

I had to replace the battery today which wasn’t planned so it’s made things really tight.
