Riot Games is currently in the process of informing some 530 staff, or 11% of its work force that they no longer have a job.

Making the news worse for the staff than it already is they found out via a press release and Twitter before their employer told them.

In an email sent to staff company CEO Dylan Jadeja said “our guiding principle is to do our very best to make sure we’re treating Rioters with respect and grace”.

Maybe informing the staff before social media and the press would have been a better idea if they truly cared about their “respect and grace.”

Staff are currently awaiting emails to inform them if their position is safe or not.

Riot Games joins an already worryingly long list of developers to let staff go this year, and it’s only the 22nd of January.

Many companies overexpanded with all the money they harvested in the pandemic. Now they're hemorrhaging cash and are trying to fix it

Maybe the CEOs and shareholders should return their yatchs and private planes and Malibu mansions before just fucking firing people out of the blue. What the shit world.

We both know they'll never give it up willingly

Class warfare.

This is how the upper class thinks https://jacobin.com/2023/09/tim-gurner-capitalists-neoliberalism-unemployment-precarity. "We need to see unemployment rise. Unemployment needs to jump 40-50 percent, in my view. We need to see pain in the economy. We need to remind people that they work for the employer, not the other way around."
