He doesn't belive it. He was mad that she might win. He pretended to believe it and then used the magic words that justify is Karen behavior. This is how all conservatives are, in all social situations. Yes, even your grandpa 👴

You're right. When I read that I literally thought "Oh, you can't be reasoned with" because he's not thinking about the situation anymore, he's just mad and spouting conservative buzzwords. Everyone has heard about parents and such getting way too into children's sports, but this is beyond abhorrent.
