A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.
This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.
Rules
- Keep it civil.
- No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
- Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
- No political or social cause agenda pushing.

How long has it been like this? I'm a 3rd-4th edition player getting back into it and it's kind of alarming to see. I never remember having a hard time getting units or models. If it came down to it you could special order whatever you needed, including individual bits.
@coyg @xSPYXEx it’s been more of a problem within the past few years: GE’s market has vastly outstripped their production and inventory
Well, their production has only increased a bit while their catalogue has increased by an order of magnitude. Multiple entirely new armies, with a complete refresh of factions and models in the fantasy/40k line. The vortex beast is 11 years old, who knows what condition the mold itself is still in?
Wow. I really liked the GW model and wanted one but if I know it may be impossible to get one I'll have to look elsewhere. They are really pushing their customers into the 3D printing market.
