Seems like most of /r/golf is unaware of the change at Reddit. They're probably mostly official app users. I think it's kind of a different demographic then the core Reddit base. Like older richer folk.

Exactly this... Can't imagine much of the r/golf community even being aware of the existence of Lemmy. Hope this community can grow now but it will certainly take a while.

I had the same theory. I also think thats why you see a lot more tech focused communities.
